    i have tried the bios for the Acer 8371, but cannot activate, seems that the bios is only showing slic2.0, is there a way for force the flash of 2.1

    I have had the same issue, with a factory fresh flashed with the latest version on the bios on the site it has stayed at 2.0 have used tge modded on and now on 2.1 :)

    bios version and type are same but models are different?

    dv5-1170el is the model you said. but mine is dv5-1240et

    is this a problem or F.21A contains all of the dv5 series?

    Some/certain models are just using the same bios.

    I can guarantee that I'm not using any lo.der(s) in the system, at least I'm not using them deliberately. Just W7 Ultimate from a disc. Is there any way to make sure that it doesn't have a loader installed by too friendly torrent "distributors" of the disc?

    You know i've never used one, neither i've ever been interested in knowing how to integrate one into a Windows installation DVD so i don't know but it looks like you you've got it. When i come home i will re-check my mod but I'm 99.9% sure i used Sony. If I was you i would download Windows from a trusted source and do a clean install.
