I had to do downgrade on a Travelmate 8371 (see sorrowuk's request on previous page). I was on 1.28 with SLIC 2.0 and had to install a modded 1.13 to get SLIC 2.1. Solution was to add /MC switch to the end of the flas**t command, which stops it comparing the BIOS versions. might work for you, but tread carefully when it comes to flashing BIOSs. Here's hoping someone comes to sorrow's aid as 1.13 is an old bios and 1.28 has a number of fixes, including for battery charging.
Questions on HP 17-1011BR and Request Hi all... Just got an ENVY 17-1011NR with the following specs on an older F.08 BIOS. Core i7 1.6Ghz with 8GB RAM, Blu-Ray Drive, ATI/AMD 5850 It wants me to update to the F13A Insyde (I think it's still Insyde possibly Intel, how to check?) BIOS and my questions are thus: If I do an RW Everything on the F08 and request an F13A mod for Ultimate x64 when I am running Home Premium x64 on the F08, is my RW Everything info invalid for the BIOS SLIC 2.1 patch? So is this the proper way to do this? 1. Upgrade BIOS to F13A 2. Run RW Everything 3. Save data and put it up for modder to work with 4. Point to link for F13A BIOS 5. Wait (semi) patiently for an SLIC god to do his/her work Sound right? If not please let me know the proper method. I REALLY want to blow this bloatware version away and get to work. Thanks! MacWynn

P ENVY 17-1011NR SLIC (F08 and F13A) Would this be the same method if I updated to the F13A BIOS? Should I update it anyway before I start messing around with this? I did not use any loader yet no, my goal is to get an SLIC 2.1 modded F13A BIOS for Ultimate x64 and I am not even sure at this point if I need to redo my RW Everything after I update to F13A (which I don't want to di until someone knowledgeable tells me to) or if the F08 version of the ACPI will work for the F13A mod to occur. I am just trying to play it safe as I haven't done this on an Insyde yet, and I just got this thing yesterday, but I am jonesing to get the real Windows sans bloatware on and get going. It's for HP as global manufactured, even it didn't listed have u tried with those tools? Anyway could u post screenshot of Slics Dump Toolkit? It seems u have case like Compaq CQ42, it had slics 2.1 but incomplete marker (correct me if I'm wrong). I haven't found in my friend computer store so I dont know exactly the problem u have. Hmmm, loxx had give u the certificate n key tool, have u try that???

I have all I need to blow the drive away and do a ground up fresh install of Ultimate x64. Right now I am at F.08 BIOS and did my RW Everything from that. The questions I would like answered are... 1. If I update the BIOS now will it affect the fresh install licensing properly or should I wait until Ult. x64 is installed, update to the stock F13A BIOS, then use the cert and tool Loxxx provided, or should I just update the BIOS now and then smoke the drive and do the cert after that? 2. Does the ACPI dump that the cert was created from have any info that would change after I update the BIOS, thus making the cert invalid? 3. I understand a modded BIOS and I have done that a few times easily thanks of course going to nojuan for that. But installing a cert into an already established 2.1 SLIC BIOS is new to me. So is the Insyde BIOS. Is it just the HP/Compaq OEN key for Ultimate x 64 and so Windows sees it as an ENVY that was shipped with Ultx64? I thinks that's all I really need to know before I get going on getting this system to "Be all that it can be." Windows wise anyways. Second drive is getting OSX86 and for that I need no help. Hp envy 17-1011nr Cert passed with BIOS f8 but did not install Ultimate yet.... So I am making an educated (I hope) guess that if it worked for the F08 BIOS that when I upgrade to F13A and install Ultimate x64 on a fresh drive it will activate as well and be able to do updates, etc. Correct a mundo? Thanks guys. I know being careful can make me a PITA but I want to be able to go back if need be, and I don't want to need to. I just want to know if the F13A BIOS will pass with the same cert on a new fresh install of Ulitmate x64 in a freshly formatted drive with an Ultimate HP/Compaq x64 OEM disc. Anyone? Bueller?
