Sony Vaio Z590U dmi insyde bios mod slic I have a Sony Vaio VGN-Z590U that have Windows Vista, i was able to get the recovery CD for Windows 7 but it is for VGN-Z800G when i try to recover i get the error message that this is not compatible with the machine, after i searched i found that i need to modify DMI on the machine , i used DMISCOPE which was able to read the information, and i can edit product name from Z590U to Z800G but after i exit and i comeback it is still shows Z590U, if anybody can show me the correct path to accomplish this, I would be really appreciated. the bios is insyde and the version is R2171M3 and this is the link for the bios. also do i need to do anything about slic, i am new in this concept.
You should be able to do this with the HP DMI Tools. As their made for updating the SKU, etc. So you should be able to alter the other settings fine.
