Yes, I flashed the unmodified BIOS first.

With respect to the recovery - thank you for the files. I powered the laptop on and held the Fn + Esc keys for several minutes. However, the power LED did not flash. How long should I wait for the power LED to flash?

Run FPT_BACKUP-BIOS.exe as administrator, then upload backup file.

Thank you! Windows is now activated :)

I've seen that method somewhere on the forum, even had similar files downloaded on the Desktop, but was reluctant to use it. It went very quickly and painlessly.

May I ask how it was possible and what actually happens, in approximatively laymen terms? It seems nothing was actually flashed? Is there something I can read about it I have a chance to understand?

Thanks again, I appreciate your help. I thought my post would surely be forgotten :)

Basically Lenovo disables the marker part of the SLIC on this non-Windows edition of the laptop. Serg008 supplied you leaked Lenovo utility which restores the marker part and thus full SLIC 2.1 is validated.
