    All fine (Acer E1-531). I just hex edit the exe file and run it from DOS. Now I have BIOS 2.14 (from 1.13) and more importantly with Legacy Boot it still has a SLIC 2.1! UEFI in this model only with Secure Boot, so can't boot W7.

    I was under the impression that since it came with Windows 8 preloaded then the BIOS contained SLIC 3.0 or whatever it's called. I've done several other BIOS with no issues.

    Do you know what I need to do to activate Windows 7? I've tried the correct cert and key.

    Hmm... seems that the SLIC is locked (just like HP notebooks).

    We need a tool to unblock the SLIC.

    1. You can try Professional or Enterprise with KMS activation.
    2. Some more experienced modder can do it for you.

    I'm doing this to my stepdad's new PC and he's not the most computer literate, so I'd like to stay away from the KMS method if possible. Who do you recommend I ask?
