Help? The DV7T-1000 bios originally bricked my laptop. Turns out the "auto detect" feature will flash the wrong bios (because there are three in the file). Just FYI, most insyde bios have a secret 'failsafe' to recover from a bad bios flash. -get the proper .FD file for your notebook, rename it to the first 4 digits and .BIN (ie: 30F3F2C.FD would become 30F3.BIN) -put newly named bin file on a fat16 or fat32 USB stick, plug it in the notebook -unplug notebook -remove battery -unit should be off, press and hold windows key and B -plug in AC power while holding those buttons -turn on notebook, let go of all buttons once LED lights come on -the notebook will beep every second, as it searches for the .bin file -if its filename matches your systems motherboard code, it will flash, and reboot -all is fixed PS: Sorry if this was mentioned in other forum areas, it saved my *ss today.
There's nothing wrong with the BIOS files. With the newer Acer 2.1 SLIC, you cannot use the old Acer XRM-MS file, only the newer one works with it. SLIC 2.1 is for both 7 and Vista. If you are just using Vista on it though as you say, you could just use the original unmodded BIOS as it already had the 2.0 SLIC in it to begin with and avoid the whole mess.
Hi, I'm very sorry to hear this. So you were able to recover - great! But what about your slic sutiation? And how did you figure out which .FD was yours? I think i might know were this problem came from - I'm gonna check the archive and upload it again.
My acer one d 250 came with genuine win xp sp3 in it . i formatted it to Vista with oem cd and found vista was not activated before patching the Bios . i think it must be the drivers then .... ill check up and post the results asap BTW str8 U are doing extremely great job , ur knowledge is truely sweetening to me and others as well . i can see it reading this thread alone .. I knew the mod BIOS would give a SLIC 2.1 but there's no point to flash the BIOS if it was 2.1 already. Now I know that I have to. Thanks for the help though.
