Hello you really seem to know what your talking about when it comes to flashing BIOS etc. Well I currently have a clients Compaq CQ57 and after installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit Pro along with almost all the updates, hp software from the drivers page, drivers of cours, etc. Well the last problem the laptop was having was a lagging freezing issue once in a while. Well so I downloaded the newest version of BIOS which is F.48 released 12-13-2013. Everything was going fine throughout the entire install of everything so I then ran the BIOS update program and everything froze halfway through the update!! I left I on for 5 hours praying it would just slowly finish and restart but no.. I searched all over online thinking there was a way to save it before pulling the battery but couldn't find anything. So I pulled the battery and here I am with the black screen when booting up. First thing I did was tear the entire laptop apart right down to taking out the motherboard and pulling the CMOS battery. I read in a few comments in forums that this worked for some people so I figured I'd give it a try. I take these things apart all the time so it wasn't that big of a deal. Anyways, it didn't work, still have the black screen issue. Have tried to put the newest BIOS on a USB flash and do the hold windows and B key then power on method. I've tried this method with the newest bios, next oldest, formatted in fat32, fat, and still nothing. I can get it to go through the motions but I cannot figure out what to name the files and which ones to put on the bootable flash drive. This is where I ask for your help please. Can you please tell me exactly what format type to use, which bin files to use, and exactly what to name them. Also if there is anything I'm doing wrong please let me know. I can't afford to put a new mobo in this laptop. I also tried using phoenix tool but when I try to open the BIOS file with it I get the message "this is not a dell etc..." Anyone please help me....
If your update has an sp6xxx.exe almost quite RSA Signed and cannot use Recovery mode so need an SPI Programmer ! PMTool can open RSA Signed file up to sp5xxx.exe. So upload this update to check it. Regards
hey fjfc, were you able to get the L421X A16 BIOS Unlocked? I couldn't find an unlocked copy of the BIOS. Cheers
