sp6xxxx unmoddable?! BDMaster- Is this for certain? I've just spent several days trying to help a friend who switched from Win8.1 to Win7 and the latest HP BIOS ROM (sp67068) appears to have partial/incomplete SLIC 2.1 info and is preventing activation. The included SAFUWIN.exe flash utility reports "ROM File Capsule Header checking... fail" when I have it check a modded ROM file (ex: SAFUWIN.exe BIOS.rom /D). If I use the /CAPSULE option (ex: SAFUWIN.exe BIOS.rom /CAPSULE /B /P /N /K) it reports "System BIOS image invalid or corrupt." If I use the /GAN option, which is not listed in the commands and is something I found in a thread regarding this issue (ex: SAFUWIN.exe BIOS.rom /GAN), it will complete the flash but the SLIC info remains incorrect/incomplete when checked with the SLIC Toolkit. I thought that surely someone would have figured out how to either disable or properly modify this verifcation in order to allow a modded ROM to be flashed. I have found several threads on here and other sites referring to the security/verification of the Capsule Header and being able to extract/move/insert/save/etc the info from it and successfully flash a modded ROM file. I also came across talk of using different flash tools, SAFU being "secure AFU" as opposed to regular AFU, etc. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make any progress as I just don't have enough time to keep reading and searching for the info on this. Now I've just come across your comment regarding this group of BIOSes. I have to believe that there must be some way, and it may just require a larger amount of time, testing, trial & error, etc, and someone could find the solution. What is it that would make the sp6xxxx series unmoddable?
Hi friend, when I say not moddable I mean that We cannot bypass internal Bios RSA Signature Check ! Donovan6k discovered how It is realizing, involving DXE and PEI modules ! We can rewrite back Modded Bios into Eeprom, but when Bios Starts It checks RSA signature to preserve itself integrity and brick laptop !!! It's different talk about SLP Marker to enable Slic 2.1 using Manufaturers Tools and DMI-Editor to get some tiny result. New UEFI Bioses are all Caplsulated and Signed, so It's very difficult to avoid these checks. You can ask directly to Donovan to get more answers, He is the HP Bios Modder Number ONE !!! About "SAFUWIN.exe BIOS.rom /GAN" I don't tink that Bios Mod is Wrote back, indeed It seems to write, but is doing nothing as Slic result incomplete. Regards
Thanks very much for the info! It sounds like I may have to help my friend install Win8.1 again and give up on trying to get OEM SLIC 2.1 activation in Win7 since it sounds like his BIOS will continue to be problematic to modify. I appreciate the work you and many others do here, BDMaster!
Hi friend, unpack the tool file .exe using 7Zip and rename folder as mod then move It to C:\ HD root. Open a Comand Prompt with Admin rights and run these comands : cd C:\mod GO.bat Then You'll find a result file into the folder if You find the result.rar file then upload only this one or otherwise pack all mod folder and upload It here. Let me know Regards
