no SLIC Hi there, Doh, I've flashed back the original BIOS (1.40 (downgrade) and then 1.50) on a Toshiba L300 and the SLIC still disappeared... what can I do in this case? No solution...? Thanks!
There's a lot of confusion about these BIOSES and more generally these Netbooks. I know for sure that the Aspire One and the Packard Bell DOT are the same netbooks with the same hardware and everything. Even BIOSES are the same, the only difference being that ACER has updated their Aspire One BIOS up to version 3310 (that has been modded and I succesfully flashed into the Packard Bell), while Packard Bell is still at version 3104 (that you can find in the ACER website too, try to compare ACER v3104 and PB v3104 and I'm pretty sure they're the same)
I can't compare them because ACER's bios is at v3310 while the PB one is still at version v3104, and ACER v3104 isn't in their server anymore, BUT i can still assume they're the same because it's simply the same HW platform, even the SLIC in the PB bios shows ACER, plus they're interchangeable, and that is a clear sign that if they're not identical they're at least compatible, and you know better than me that for two bioses to be compatible they must share a huge part of the code.
totally quote... , actually the mobo is the same, i've checked few hours ago... @str8 I'm not a bios pro like you and i don't want discredit your work in any way.... sorry if I let you think this way... My only goal is to find a solution for the PB bios mod
Sgufac8, Camazza - gentlemen while these 2 bioses might be the same from the point of view of their functionality it appears that the way they store the information is different. The thing that is most confusing is the RW report. Based on that i can't say i can mod the original PB bios 100% correctly as the information i get is different from the one usually shown. So far RW was always correct, but this time the slic size is increased by 10 bytes (which is not supposed to be) + its content is messed up. So i can't really make any conclusion or decision as it seems to me incorrect.
