Just thought i would share this if you are going to run the exe within windows and what it to install without any problems use this command inf.exe /OVERALL Cheers
Hmm, I have never run into any problems and offcourse I run it within Windows...I mean, where else would anyone run it?
Sometimes you get issues with USB installation when installing through windows have a read of the readme within the pack, Also you are able to extract all files and inject them into the Install.WIM image, so that windows will select and install them during setup.
There is 9.2.0.1009 beta out for a while... and lets forget the fact this intel chipset drivers are "informative" nature anyway and absolutly not needed for your computer to work properly.
How come in the past, on previous Windows versions, when you install the Intel Chipset Drivers, you actually notice something is being installed....as it takes time to complete the installation and you find the OS detecting components.....but in Windows 7......the installation completes almost instantly and you dont' feel that it really made a difference What gives?
use the \OVERALL switch to install, and you will see the installation working and then askes for re-boot
Like i explained once already (and this is last time im repeating this). If you check drivers you will see drivers consisting ONLY of .inf (information file) and .cat files (signature files). There is not a SINGLE .sys/.dll file that would indicate actual driver code. You can inspect .inf file what instalation of this drivers actualy does and except name some devices "properly" and set some odd registry setting (for example information about number of USB ports that chipset can control). But most important there is not a single line of computer code (outside setup it self) wrote for this "drivers". And why it seems on Vista it installs more drivers then on Win7. There is simple explanation for this and its called 3 years of development between OSes Shocking that Win7 includes more recent drivers then Vista isnt it? OFC with newer chipset (like x58/p55 and more recent), number of infs that this chipset drivers will install on win7 will increase, but for older chipset they are compleatly not needed and even on newer chipsets they are ONLY needed, if you just cant stand occesional "unkown device". But even if this unkown devices exists and are produced because of chipset, they do not influence on your computer prefomance at all, because driver it self is installed and its from MS, but only because it cant match subid it cant find proper name for it and it names it unkown device and this intel chipset "drivers" fixes this... they leave MS drivers and name it properly...
