    Yes,use for desktops and laptops.

This RST software will add ACHI enhancements(it's not just for RAID).

When doing a clean installation of Windows 7 use the f6 version at the add driver screen.

When the clean Windows 7 install is finished install the Intel chipset installation software.

Naturally these are for boards with Intel chipsets and processors.

    Hi Michelle68,

Do you know if the same rule applies for servers. I'm doing an ASUS Z8NA-D6C build, should be up and running in a couple of weeks. I automatically assumed the latest RST drivers would be okay (ICH10R), but if you know something I don't please share. Thanks.

Just find an RST version compatable with the Widows Server version.

    Search Intel downloads.

Okay, I found them there (RST 10.1.0.1008), thanks. I'm not sure, but it seems 10.5.xxx is only beneficial if the board supports Intel Smart Response Technology (SSD caching). Never-the-less, I've been using RST 10.5.0.1027 (X58) with no ill effects. A while back there was talk of RST 10.5.xxx (long before the release) supporting RAID/Trim (for RAID volumes). Now that RST 10.5 is here, seems no one is talking about it anymore even though the feature is still unsupported. Have you heard any news along those lines?

this is not the case at all, if you check the PDF tha comes with some downloads of this driver it fixes a bunch of issues that occur on all versions on all sata controllers using the older drivers, including one that causes HDTune to crash

I didn't see 10.5.0.1027 listed for the Z68 either. Guess they list it under "SSD" for those with Solid-State drives since Smart Response Technology wouldn't be an issue for those with HDDs.

I'm confused. Are these only to be used with products:
    Intel® Desktop Board DQ67EP
    Intel® Desktop Board DQ67OW
    Intel® Desktop Board DQ67SW
    Intel® Desktop Board DZ68DB
as indicated at the Intel website for version 10.5.0.1027 ?

What are the latest Intel RST drivers from Station Drivers that I can safely install on my Sager NP8760 laptop using the Intel PM55 chipset? I currently have 10.1.0.1008 .

    Thanks.

    To SSDFan,

For chipsets PCH & ICH 7/8/9/10

    PM55 is a PCH chipset

    I have 10.5.1.1001 on a netbook with ICH7R that I upgraded to Windows 7 HP x64,so yes.

    Updating will add ACHI enhancements.

The following is for W7 x64 so if you have different it will be only slightly different.

To update your existing ACHI drivers with this version 1st unpack the downloaded file.It will unpack into 2 folders,Install and Driver.

Now open device manager and 2X click on IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers>Intel(R)ICH??/ SATA ACHI controller>driver>update driver>Browse Computer

Now browse to the driver folder>64bit>next>.....

After updating the driver should be v10.5.1.1001 dated 5/10/2011

Thank you for your response Michelle.

To be clear, my device manager shows IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers>Intel(R) 5 Series 6 Port SATA ACHI controller

    Ok to continue?

10.5.1 appears to resolve a storage related non paged pool leak.

Please can burfadel and Michelle help me on this. This is an old problem and has not been resolved as of now:
    1. For boot drive, I use WD2001FASS 3 gb/s but also sometimes interchange with WD2002FAEX 6 gb/s. Both are 2 TB Caviar Blacks.

    2. On 2001FASS 3 gb/s with AHCI in BIOS and windows installed, Intel RST works without a problem. On 2002FAEX 6 gb/s with AHCI, major problems so much so that I do not use RST drivers anymore. The problems could be hang on welcome screen, some display errors, and generally less stability.

    3. The question is whether RST drivers help in any major way. I can confidently install them if using 2001FASS as a boot device but not on 2002FAEX. I do install Intel chipset from Asus website (Sabertooth X58) and also JMicron IDE for esata (with this driver, esata hard drive works like a usb with power on/detection and power off/offline).

    4. Another issue is the ASUS website drivers for chipset and RST:
Chipset is: Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility V9.1.1.1025 for 32/64bit Windows XP & Windows Vista & Windows 7.(WHQL)
RST is given as Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager Driver V8.9.0.1023 for Windows 32/64bit XP & Windows 32/64bit Vista & 32/64bit Windows 7.(WHQL). This is a Sep 2009 file!! and I have used ver 10 on 2001FASS (but on an older msi x58m mb).

Do I really give RST the go-by (if using 2002FAEX as boot disk but also perhaps on 2001FASS if in case I want to shift the acronis image across the two disks) and just be cool with chipset and JMicron. I have faced major problems with some drivers. The Sabertooth x58 has Marvell 6 gb/s ports and using that for 2002FAEX gave me 2 BSODs in 4 days and 2 ultra dma error on 2002FAEX. Initially shifted boot device (2002FAEX) from Marvell 6 gb/s to Intel's 3 gb/s port (and using Marvell for non-boot disks) and then shifted all disks from the 2 Marvell ports, disabled it in BIOS, and uninstalled Marvell drivers.

depends - you can run the exe or make the update manually
