I have recently installed Intel RST enterprise v3.0.0.2003 on a X79 ASUS MB. After this, I could not see any SMART values. Updating to v3.1.0.1085 did not solve the problem. However, uninstalling the RSTe and installing Intel RST v11.0.0.1032 solved this problem. Anyone aware of this problem. Please also help me in uninstalling RSTe. I uninstalled thru programs and features and then through device manager. However, after many reboots and installing RST v11, perhaps storage controller is missing in device manager. SMART values are now shown in Intel RST v11 Now SMART is not that too important to me but I want it. I have a backup image if I uninstalled in a wrong manner and there is a proper manner. Also, is RST v11.1.0.1006 safe enough.
Everybody is aware of it. It will be resolved in IRSTe 3.2 Also please read back a few pages for the 11.5 removal instructions, your system is currently operating in a frankenstein state which may result in instability and sluggish behavior
It will be resolved in 3.2 when. Also, will it also resolve the inability of SSD Toolbox to work properly if IRSTe is installed. The X79 chipset came out in Nov 2011 and for more than 7 months, Intel have not released IRSTe driver that works the way it should. Instead it disables SMART, slows down speed, and bugs up its own Intel SSD toolbox. Plus, other not known issues. FYI, I do not have Intel RST installed because I do not consider it `compatible' with X79 (even if many people have installed it with no ill-effects).
I also saw Intel RSTe 3.2 on stationdrivers. Are they WHQL (stationdrivers says so but no listing on Intel website). I am under the impression that 3.2 fix the problem of disabling some of Intel SSD toolbox, SMART, and tuning. I am not using 3.1 because of this on a X79 chipset.
True. I will try Intel RST now, i thought that it works for RAID only but i checked on Intel's website and it says that it works for single drives too.
RST works/or will install if you have AHCI/RAID enabled and not for IDE. Performance wise: do not know, but with RST/RSTe, the disks are correctly sequenced in the order of their connection to the motherboard. Without RST, BIOS may show disk A as on port 1 but windows/acronis may show it as 2nd drive.
Me too, This is the fist time i install a RSTe version on my X79 since 5 months and now i can use the SMART and TRIM via INTEL SSD Toolbox, so i just picked up the proper folder of the package (x64 for me), and install-it manually (so no more process running at startup), i don't need the app. Windsman.
Yes, they are compatible with all: Code: Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) ICH10D/DO SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) 5 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller Note: Not ICH9R, so people still with P35/X38 chipsets etc (old Intel Core 2 motherboards) are not supported, like with all 11.x drivers. The newer P45 based Core 2 motherboards are supported as they utilise ICH10R. According to the INF file, these also supports Windows 8, designed by 6.2: Code: [Manufacturer] %INTEL% = INTEL, NTx86.5.2, NTamd64.5.2, NTx86.6.2, NTamd64.6.2
So i loaded the driver at Windows install and installed RST software but in Device Manager -> Disk Drives -> HDD -> Properties -> Driver, it says Microsoft? Is that correct? How do i check that the Intel driver is being used?
