There is a way to do it through the Intel 82559 Lan chip with SLIC-Mod boot up, and that's what I did to activate Vista.
I searched but didn't find anything on this? Can you link to info on this? Sounds interesting! EDIT: tried all sorts of keywords on google and a few others. Still couldn't find it. Blah. Is this a method you engineered yourself? UPDATE: Found it. A so-called PCI mod huh? Anyone think it might be possible for any of these tough intel bioses? I am guessing that since the root of the whole intel bios modding issues is the inability to open a lot of them, that this would also prevent the modification of & adding of these modified PXE's. I'm glad that all my computers are easily modified with andyp's tools! I'm just trying to get a friend modded who has an Intel board. It's already been requested by several people on this board, with nothing able to be done so far. It's the infamous evil DG31PR!
It needs to put in a "Intel Bios Challenge" thread since not very many of these have been able to be successfully done, but we are thankful to those who spent the time to try. I for one thank 911medic and Busykid508 (and myself <g>) ..for having tried doing my D865perl board. Once the right tools and/or method is worked out, then I'm sure it will be a simple click click click through the proccess, but is the voluntary time and effort worth it for these older boards. If the demand is high enough it may generate enough interest to make it succeed.
To all the guys asking for mods: - if the Intel .bio file contains AMI BIOS (use Intel2Ami.exe to process it) then extracted AMI .rom file can be processed by Andy's tool & simply re-inserted back to the .bio file Then flash with iflash & you are done sebus
I only said it about the BIOS that are AMI based (usually older boards). You do not even want to try, then do not, nobody forces you, right? sebus
The problem is that people will not use the DOS Iflash. The Winflash of course will not flash the bios...too many checks. I get tired of repeating myself and, thus, remove myself from the thread.. Try the Iflash from DOS. Too many people have success with it, and not with Winflash apps. Sebus is correct, and I have asked to be sure, that he uses Iflash. It is the correct way to flash....Express update is not it...for the ???th time....
He has, but others dont. They try the winflash, and when it fails discount the modification. @endevour has been working very well with us to get the mod working. Some just dont work.... There is a greater chance of failure with winflash..until DOS is tried, all the non-activations cannot be taken seriously..
So mybe his D865PERL is a peculiar board... Does it mean that iflash gives error? If so what error? No GUI? Then use GUI & see what happens. sebus
