I am curious to know the reason why it won't work on Pentium G. Does it have anything to do with incompatible controller?
I see just like the first ssd small and expensive....32 gig dont do much for u....u must run just about everything of the cloud.
well if is going to serve a very small market...dont think it will very successful....when it comes to SSD the money is in the big market for the consumer masses.
That is the questionable thing about it. You must have an Optane-ready mobo to use it. In other words, you need to buy a new mobo that is compatible to use it. Probably 99% of the mobo in the market is not compatible.
The board I have states it is Optane memory ready & Optane memory is (non volatile memory) technology supported by Prime 200 series MB's. The memory modules accelerate 'attached storage' to reduce boot & load times. It states 'attached storage' and doesn't specify storage type. Would I have to purchase an Optane SSD to use this or can I connect any sata HD and get the speed benefit from Optane? Edit: Have done BIOS flash which included optane language & also drivers update
It's a cache. You don't use it as a regular M.2 SSD. When enabled & Optane drivers are installed it will speed up your load times from regular ssd's & hdd's. It should really be called "Optane RAM".
