@urie, the >>>>Windows SP1 media refresh version<<<< that you have recommended is the same as the windows 7 iso with built-in service pack available from digitalrivercontent.net...or is the media refresh version a different version altogether???
@urie, if i install windows 7 home premium with the original/untouched iso & then install the 537 mb windows 7 service pack 1 i have on my external hard disk & after that do a windows update will i get the KB Article 2534111 hotfix???
Do you realise it will probably take longer to install the Sp1 Service pack update than it will be to do full install windows sp1 I would not suggest this if this was not a new installation.
@urie, time is not a concern for me!!! you said the only new thing the newer iso has is kb article 2534111 hotfix!!! i repeat my query : if i install windows 7 home premium with the original/untouched iso & then install the 537 mb windows 7 service pack 1 i have on my external hard disk & after that do a windows update will i get the KB Article 2534111 hotfix???
I currently administer nine Windows 7 stations on a small LAN. All of those machines started with the non SP1 version of 7 and all had SP1 installed via the 538MB file (8) or the 903MB file (1). On all of these machines, KB2534111 has never been installed as an update, it's not currently offered on any of the nine machines and it's not hidden on any of the nine machines. Based solely on my experience, the answer to your question is "No". But ... YMMV.
I would say the hotfix will never be installed through windows up due to the fact you need to request it.
This hotfix KB2534111 is superseded by KB2652029. KB2652029 is available in our hotfix repo for Windows 7. Cheers
