No, you shut it!!! We have heard all manner of uncritical nonsense from m$'s poltroons (hiding behind a big power) like your worthy self... m$ and their apologists should STOP and SHUT IT!!! THAT'S THE POINT of EU ruling, for instance!!!! Get a life.... m$ is certainly NOT worth getting your nose brown...
I don't like the Metro UI. However, it's been my experience that the fastest/most productive users rely on keyboard shortcuts more than "point n click". Making changes to the UI less of an obstacle. Case in point, when my employer first moved to Office 2007 people were outraged at the Ribbon. The few of us who used shortcuts and macros religiously got up to speed much quicker than those who didn't. I do think Win 8 will fail for the following reasons: 1. Released too late for corps to consider as a replacement for XP and no need to upgrade from Win 7. 2. The average non tech XP home user won't be aware of the $40 limited time upgrade without a marketing blitz. 3. Vista/7 home users don't need to upgrade and even the enthusiasts aren't enthusiastic. 4. Win 8 RT will compete with the iPad and Android and like Win Phone 7 will have a tough time succeeding. 5. Win 8 x86 Tablets will be outrageously priced in the beginning. This will be the first time an Apple product will look like a bargain to the uninformed. Not to mention that Intel has released ALOT of x86 code to Android recently and Apple won't sit still. 6. XP users forced to make a decision in 2014 are likely on a budget or use their PC so infrequently that they haven't bothered upgrading. 7. Users in #6 may find a Tablet to be a suitable replacement, see 4-5 for how they'll decide on their next purchase. It's a sure thing that companies move to Win 7 and Windows dominates for the next 5 years but if they can't hold their own in the consumer market then things will get interesting. Assuming the worst for MS regarding BYOD and the corporate cloud; might it be more cost effective to develop cross platform internal apps and allow employees to BYOD? The cost saved on training and hardware might be worth it?
You're right, it was 26 seconds faster on a 4.35GB "iATKOS_L2.dmg" (iATKOS L2 Lion v10.7.2)! However, I'm embarrassed. because Directory Opus' own copy routine was 30 seconds even faster than ExtremeCopy Pro for me. Guess I should only use TeraCopy (or ExtremeCopy) when copying over the network.
Seriously, the only here who needs to "get a life" is you. Nobody is asking you to use it. I'm pretty sure you pirated all the Windows versions and not paying for it so stop blabbering your garbage.
Seriously? I am nobody's bitch, like you are, an m$ sycophant (with one aberration, like your views on Firefox v. IE, so you can "pass" as "independent" - but it's laughable...). I have seen many of your posts and you are constantly on the attacking side but attacking those with critical attitude, so really you have no clue... Report back to your employers we have a sound, youthful, wholesome and healthy view on life, unlike your employers... We exercise our higher brain capabilities and we see them (m$) for what they really are...
You don't have any critical attitude. You're nothing but a whining troll with a broken record. Whining about a product that you uses and steal or doesn't even paid for and complain about the "$m" is a freaking hypocrite.
The English have a saying "Presumption is a mother of all f**k-ups!" You have presumed tons of stuff here and NONE are true/correct! From the fact my family has 3 laptops (2 of which are mine), all with paid OS (forcibly paid, of course, to which I object!!!) onwards!!! So, apologise or pi*s off, you m$ pawn!!! Btw, I will stop when the context changes. Until then, the points that not only I raise but everybody with any common sense here, all the way to the EU, are VALID and they must be continuously raised and pressed in all directions, in order for this situation to change for the better!!! If you do not understand that - and clearly, you do NOT - you understand nothing!!! Over and out... Now, go on and be "smart" some more, with your tiresome m$ dithyrambs...
Would you guys mind coming back to discussing this topic in a serious way and stop all the insulting? Don't want to hand out any bans - on the other hand, they're for free, so...
I was not the one who started the insulting business (see the words like 'stupid" first being used by him without any real proof/argument to show how/why that is the case). I just defended not only myself - from utterly unfounded personal attack - but also the view that I think has merit way more than anything he ever uttered... I have no problem going back to the issues, of course... Just don't let him run riot with anything critical written against his employers/idols, please...
Get a grip! Who are you to yell at me?!? Even the Admin here are respectful but you are taking liberties... Ignore button - first you, then lex! And peace!
I really find the whole metro look unsuitable for my laptop. Win8 actually contains a whole slew of good under-the-hood improvements to code. It's unfortunate that they had to go with a whole new look. M$ is trying to play the @pple game, covering computers and mobile devices at once. I only hope this OS will not be the next "Vista". I definitely want to be going back to the "classic" Win7 look.
Antime now RTM will be announced and then we will all get to see if we really, really like it. I havn't much so far but will load it up on my main machine's SSD and give it an honest and thorough go. I have my doubts which is too bad but I'm still a bit excited over a new RTM of windows. Can we call it windows? It's more like Tiles. One thing I'm SURE of, business isn't going to adopt Metro, most are still on XP. Best Wishes
Bringing this back on topic a bit I am currently playing with RTM on a laptop. I really do not get the purpose of Metro. Just with hitting the Windows key you get to change over to the regular desktop and there I see nothing much different from Windows 7. When browsing files I see that MS has implemented the HATED Office 2007/2010 menu Ribbon thingie and as I use the comp I fear that Ribbon will follow most dialogues used. There is no obvious way to close Metro windows, so Alt+F4 is your friend (until I learn a bit about it). Even for IE windows. Why does it even have the option to add shortcuts to "Administrative Tools"??? 90% of users wont have anything to do there anyway. When I want to add some App I find that there is none. NONE. Maybe they will be available in October, who knows? Metro is nice for a Cell Phone or maybe for a Tablet (dont have one) but if it is intended to somehow replace "regular" Windows UI for something that looks like iPad but with keyboard, well, MS, you are sadly mistaken. I will always prefer the "regular" desktop to Metro on a Laptop or Desktop. That is just a nobrainer. Getting back with more as I find out. Ah, hardware is a bit of a problem. It is installed on a Lenovo T61p but Lenovo has not updated some of its software to be able to run on 8. In particular the "System Update" software (v 4.03 available) , which frankly is pretty useful for drivers and such. I would guess anyone with a Lenovo laptop will have the same issue. I have yet to find any relevant reference to W8 on Lenovo site.
How was Ribbon hated? It was extremely popular and a welcome addition to 07, I remember the only people who didn't like it were the autistic people who can't accept change and didn't want MS Office to change.
