Count me among them. Are you racist or minority hater or some whacking down on autistic people? I just got almost 14 million hits on the Google search "office 2010 remove ribbon". I am also in the process of upgrading 1500 users from Office 2003 to 2010. Are you seriously going to tell me there won't be transition issues in regards to what should be the simplest thing of all: finding your way in the Word menu?
Basically, yes. I'm installing it for my Mom and Dad's computer, but not mine. It looks fancy, but it's designed for people who are idiots with computers.
I like it. And I'm someone who skipped vista and kept XP for a while after 7 came out, and still use never combine and small icons in the taskbar. Honestly I hated the RP, but after giving it a chance I am enjoying it right now. I only used start menu as a launcher anyway (no search crap, just pin to start menu). Well it works basically the same now, I just have to press windows key, launch application done. And that's me, who doesn't (yet) use taskbar pins. For those dumb asses who like the search stuff (herp, where did I save it anyway? derp), all you have to do is press the windows key and type, just like in the start menu. Keyboard support is awesome, performance is much better and I like the interface too. never liked glass and I'm minimalistic by nature too, so it suits me very well. There are a few rough stuff, like the start screen is barely customizable and I don't like the ribbon in explorer (I guess I'll just have to get used to it, but it doesn't suit the rest of the OS in my opinion). I still don't use any metro stuff expect the start screen, but that's bound to change in the future. We'll see how good or bad it turns out to be. And that's it, my opinion. Hope I didn't offend anyone with the search stuff, it is just annoying when people don't even know how the file system works and just go to search to do any single damn thing that's all.
Windows 8 doesn't suck, its just different, but the new theme is God awe full ugly. I can understand wanting to cut out glass to save resources, on low power systems and tablets. It's not right though to take it away from Desktops that can handle it. I'm sorry to say that it is a deal breaker for me, I'm sticking with Win 7. I want my eye candy, this new visual style is the same as taking a Ferrari and painting it flat black! The beauty is still there just dulled out.
No need to attack people who haven't the info you do, though, is there?!? Especially as "lame" or "stupid" or whatever... That IS (at least) borderline autistic, which I find in huge quantities with geeks, btw.... Well, over average consumption of such "terms" and adherence to such attitudes, anyway, sadly... The Q's are now, to me, as a lay person: 0) Is there a "Daz Loader" coming for it? 1) Will there be driver and apps compatibility mode in W8? 2) Is this a simple upgrade to W7, if there is no great, big kernel change? So, basically W7 SP2, in a way - but for PR and profit reasons packaged as W8? 3) Is it easily customisable (Start button etc.), at least with third party apps? (This is since m$ are incredibly idiotic and autistic to the bone, stemming from their monopolistic position in the market, hence not including it themselves, from the start, at least hitherto...) 4) Will manufacturers of laptops/desktops be writing drivers/apps for W8, even for ever so slightly older HW?!? What did I miss?
Yeah as for the people calling other people names or insulting them for no reason, at best they are immature (as your sig explains). What is worse? Someone overlooking a minor technical point, or someone calling another human being a dumb ass or idiot over such a small matter? One must have a very low moral quality to be able to talk this way about others. Disagreeing with someone is one thing, but getting personal and calling them names and demeaning them is low behavior. I also find this happens a lot in places like this, where the tech boys gather. If you think a technical knowledge elevates you over others morally and in authority, you couldn't even be called a boy. Boy is too innocent for that. It's low class and indecent, rather.
I think the fact that this thread keeps coming back like Jack-in-the-box is an interesting fortune of Windows 8's future. I can't decide if 8 sucks or not and as predicted I am using Server 2012 build 9200, no issues so far, lightnin fast.
what do you mean lightning fast? can you please elaborate ? i would really appreciate your thoughts on this matter of " lightning fast" i am really tempted to try Server 2012 build 9200,thank you
Agreed, Windows 8 sucks for desktop PCs and laptops. There is no way I will replace my Windows 7. But, as for a tablet PC, I think Windows 8 could work, although I would rather prefer Android. Again, take a look at Microsoft's history: Windows 98 - Good Windows ME - Sh*t Windows XP - Good Windows Vista - Sh*t Windows 7 - Good Windows 8 - Sh*t ????
Nop windows 8 is more faster than windows 7.i can run prototype 2 with high settings in windows 8 and it runs smoothly and in windows 7 it struck during combats and heavy actions
I voted yes, I like the Interface! I am running it on my series 7 slate which is almost exactly the \Build\\ device, so im getting an experience you wont get on a desktop/laptop. My sons Atom based netbook also has it installed and there is a noticeable performance improvement. My wife also has switched over on her 17" Toshiba, she likes it now, but had a brief mourning period when she lost her start button. she was more excited about office 2013 and skydrive than she was the actual OS, but she doesn't know the difference and clumps it all together.
When I first saw the Metro interface I didn't like it but now that I've been running W8 RTM for a week I like it more than W7. I rarely used the start meny in XP and W7.
I have installed both Win8 and the server 2012 RTM. Its too early to say whether or not is any more stable or secure. As a Microsoft Systems Administrator for 16 years I absolutely HATE the Metro UI. It looks like it would be cool if you had a tablet pc with a touchscreen, however on a server or a standard PC desktop with a mouse it absolutely sucks @ss. To put the metro UI on a server OS is an absolutely blasphemous abomination. A Huge mistake by Redmond that will be paid for by a low adoption rate and $hitty sales numbers.
yes it sucks for me, its just not you! I'm working on removing the metro apps and ui... i really wanna meet that idiot decided to include the metro in the desktop edition of windows
You forgot the baap of all flops Windows Me! Windows 95 - ? Windows 98 - s**t Windows 98 SE - Good Windows 2000 / NT - Good Windows Me - s**t Windows XP - Good Windows Vista - s**t Windows 7 - Good Windows 8 - s**t Windows 9 -
