I've just put together a new system:

    ASUS M3A78 Pro
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Black Edition 2.7Ghz
    Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC8500

Now the supplied manual (and indeed all documentation on the internet), states the processor voltage range of the M3A78 Pro runs from 0.8 to 1.7 volts, yet I can only select between 0.8 and 1.3. What's baffling me even more is that the BIOS system monitor reports the VCore to be running at 1.408 volts. Indeed, CPU-Z reports the VCore is 1.408 in Vista Ultimate 64bit

I haven't put together a system for 18 months so perhaps I'm missing something obvious?

I've updated the BIOS to the latest version 0801, still no joy.

What's new to me is the fact I can change the 'processor voltage' AND 'processor-nb voltage' (presumably northbridge voltage). However, I can only select a maximum of 1.3 volts there too. Do you perhaps have to combine the two voltages? Am I being ridiculously dense?

Also, the system is running very slow even when overclocked. There is alot of latency and lag when running Vista, and even though I've set the memory timings and speed up properly in the BIOS, CPU-Z tells me the memory is only capable of performing at PC6400. (BIOS tells me it's running at 1066mhz+) I've overclocked to 3Ghz (14x 215Mhz), but system stability suffers considerably and all I want to do is have a fiddle with the voltage!!

If anyone can offer any tips, I'd be really grateful. :)

God damn it! I'm always so unlucky with parts!

Thank you for the very helpful information! ...off to the ASUS forums! :D

Don't know what your past parts experience has been but in this case it's ASUS - not your luck. I should think that they will have a BIOS upgrade sooner than later since so many folks have experienced the issue - but who knows.
