You must run the Windows 10 setup from within Windows 7 to do the upgrade. You wouldn't be asked for a key if you do it that way. If you boot from the ISO before Windows boots then it isn't the same. It'll ask you to input a key which can be skipped, but the activation info from Windows 7 isn't sent to Microsoft so you wouldn't be activated once you've got Windows 10 installed.
GWX has nothing to do with it. I must have done 10 installs in the last week where none had it and they all activated.
But Daz, I ran W10 from within W7! I mounted the ISO in the VM like anyone could insert a DVD in a drive. I will, but would be nice to discover what has gone wrong.
All I know is that it shouldn't ask you for a key at all. I've tested it a dozen times this way myself. Once you've selected to upgrade it'll ask you what do you want to save. Select to keep the Windows settings, your files and apps.
Code: MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.10.PRO-CORE.RTM.10240.X64.OEMRET.ENGLISH.DVD-WZT RELEASE DATE: 15/07/09 BUILD: 10240.16384.150709-1700 FILE: 10240.16384.150709-1700.TH1_CLIENTPRO-CORE_OEMRET_X64FRE_EN-US.ISO SIZE: 4,083,853,312 byte SHA-1: 60CCE9E9C6557335B4F7B18D02CFE2B438A8B3E2 MD5: 23E397A21A9E01F141C64B7E1260314A CRC: B1A4699E That's exactly the same as what FaiKee posted here on the 19th, but wzor re-released it as his own. That version shouldn't ask for a key during an upgrade AFAIK. I've only used the ESD to ISO release though so I'm not 100% sure.
I know it may be a gimmick. .. Yet my original question stands.. Can I put in a reservation with just they Key and an Email? Or do I need to have a legit 7/8 thingy running (maybe in VM) to do so? - Can I do the same in Hyper V? Or Do I have to go with VM Ware? - So Daz loader allows us to get LEGIT Win 10 licenses from non legit Win 7s? (Do elaborate) Thanks.
I don't see VMware as a requirement. I'm the only one here that cannot answer this question. The only thing I know is that Windows Loader has nothing to do with the problem I had.
To equate the Windows 10 free upgrade to that of a free Slurpee at 7-Eleven is an unforgiveable insult. I demand satisfaction. You owe an apology to all Slurpee lovers!
I tested with both VirtualBox and VMWare Player. Both of them worked, so maybe something is getting caught with the workstation setup?
Don't know what your issue is but can confirm VMware 11 works. I installed Windows 7 SP1 in VM did not install any Windows Updates and activated with DAZ loader. Rebooted checked that it was activated only in system info. Ran setup from 10240 with keep Windows programs and settings. Windows 10 was activated after the upgrade. I then reinstalled Windows 10 in the VM fresh using the same VM drive but deleting the partitions then installing it. It is activated and says activation permanent. So it works.
What could it be? Right now I have these working VMs: XP x86, W7 (x86 and x64, both activated with your medicine), W8.1 Pro, W8.1 Enterprise, OpenSUSE and Fedora. Only the W10 upgrade is not working.
I'm honestly not sure. Maybe you're getting stuck with bad UUID's that Microsoft block? It could even be that you've tried so many times that they're now denying you based on your IP address.
