Would seriously contest that. Memory consumption depends on the no. and types of running apps and processes. I use different versions of 7 on my machines and have never seen any edition specific increase or decrease.

I never said that one performed better than the other. Maybe it's just me. Ah never mind, i'm talking above my shoulder. Lately i'm boring, and when i'm boring i say anything.
Hmm... I have Windows 7 Enterprise on my machine with 1GB Ram and it runs fine. I even had Windows 7 Home Premium on here and it uses the same exact amount of ram when I have no programs running.
If I wanted Windows 7 to fit on a small netbook, I wouldn't buy Windows 7 Starter, I would use Vlite to get rid of the features that you don't want. That program makes the ISO and installation size a lot smaller if you know what you are doing. I got Windows 7 to fit on my Asus EEE netbook with a 4GB SSD hard drive with Vlite
My StaterLight , it takes about 5.5GB of hard drive space and about 280MB of RAM at idle with clean easy fast and so stable, I love it.
I will go Enterprise over Ultimate because of KMS activation and I don't have a system that supports BIOS mods. I want to keep a clean OS which means either modding the BIOS or using a KMS. DirectAccess, BitLocker, BL to go, KMS activation are a few reasons I use Ultimate/Enterprise
My 2 cents on the matter By the time RTM was announced I thought about this question, but I never gave it too much attention. Today I was browsing through the forums and I found this thread. The fact that was started by Hazar made it even more interesting. Basically there are 2 points of view. If you don't buy it, then you should go for Ultimate and disable any unwanted features (as there is no difference in the occupied space). You may need those features later. I also think that I would rather disable any features than to have them permanently disabled with licensing or in any other way. I do not take into account the fact that some people do not like the "ultimate" word. In my opinion, that has little to do in choosing an OS. But the situation is different if you buy a license. The price difference would be the main factor for me. If I need any other features, I would look for a open-source or freeware program. I use Win7 Ultimate 64 bit at home activated using a BIOS mod and basically that is the only pirated software on my computer (other than games ). I bought TotalCommander and I have a free alternative program for all the cracked programs I used in the past. I also went from XP Professional directly to Win7 Ultimate, so I have no Vista bad memories/experiences. I think I would buy Home Premium as it sums up all the important features I want for my OS. As a side note, I have just installed last night Win7 Ultimate 32 bit on a HP Compaq CQ60-300 SI (it only has 2 GB of DDR2 and it is quite old) and the OS runs just fine. I have uninstalled all the features that are not needed. Bottom line: if you buy it, choose it based on the features and the price. If you don't buy it, then go for Ultimate, as there is no difference in performance by using a lower version (the occupied space is the same too). I also think a loader is easier to use than KMS activation.
