I hope that the Windows 8 Tablets will have a scan function like in Surface 2.0 with PixelSense.
So that i put a Picture on the Display and Windows has already scan that pic.
That would be awesome.

And when will be "public beta"? Any date?

 

So not TOO long until the beta now? Maybe it will be build 8150? I think canouna said we reached 8100 already right?

BTW: Beta SKU has Windows Beta instead of Windows Developer Preview in the watermark right?

 

I guess it would be somewhere around December middle or end (before Christmas). So Beta would be ready for CES.
Windows 7 Beta was finished in December.

 

I would say public "beta" in january, at CES 2012.

So, Windows Developer Preview will only be available to the attendees at BUILD. The public will have to wait a few more months for the Beta. This is hugely disappointing news for all of us who have been waiting for BUILD all these months.

Even if it leaks, it will probably be feature locked. So, we won't get any of the cool new features like the Metro Start Screen. With Windows 8, Microsoft have been able to really keep things under control.

 

They would probrably lock the new UI but, I doubt it would be fully locked. At least we will all see new features, if it is all locked down like some of the builds, there would be no point. I hope they unlock everything though

 

IF it's still locked. Maybe for the dev preview it's only locked with a key and not anymore with shsxs.dll.
A key-only lock is relatively easy to bypass.

But again we need canouna's knowledge here to get a better picture at what MS is planning to do with the new features at BUILD.

 

Yeah, it could be easy to unlock like Windows 7 leaks, but at the moment I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

But as I understood, it verifies the key on a server and only if the key is valid it unlocks :s
