    @pisthai

You may have made some mistakes.

Any files or folders placed in the desktop is created as a hard link to C:\Users\%username%\Desktop & vice-versa. In case of shortcuts, they are soft links.

Hmm...never faced any single issue with UltraISO (all others are only Clones to me). Most reliable of all, even regarding UEFI boot media. Not shure whether PowerISO can handle it now :hmm:

Some times had ISOs (Win 8.1Leaks and Preview) as download which i wasn´t able to mount. After opening and saving with UltraISO they could be mounted with no problem.

You have to expand the folder "desktop" don't you?

UltraISO works just fine for me too! Never any problems! PowerISO is good and fast and also has Virtual Drive, which is an plus. I use them mainly for ISO Operations, for burning I use ImgBurm or HA!DVD 7.021 while for to work with RW Medias I use Gear 7Engineering Edition.

The Desktop is a 'compound' directory, it is actually two directories. One is the user desktop directory, the other the system desktop directory. You need to check both.

Expand works only if there Sub-Dorectories inside and they're NOT!

FYI, UltraISO also has virtual drive. Moreover it can integrate with DAEMON Tools & Alcohol 120%.

UltraISO has a Virtual Drive (better to say, as many as i have drive letters) from the beginning, at least when i began to work with :D.

There 2 more in Public and in UpdatusUser and neither has that Folder Extract or that .ISO file! Using Properties it points to Users/[name]/Desktop! And both are not signed as Shortcuts, didn't have that arrow lower right!

I use Virtual CD for a long time, I had only mention the Virtual Drive in PowerISO as one of it's features.

Anyway, it didn't bothered me because I didn't use the Desktop for working, I only started that because of the Problems Humphrey was facing.

So if someone could help in that regard, that would be fine because that's what this thread is about. And I don't want to hijack his thread. Please back on topic.

    Thanks.

Yes both apps, UltraISO and PowerISO have virtual CD drives. PowerISO having the ability to set more than 8 which is UltraISO's limit..

Did you realize any speed issues when openening ISOs directly? The caching steps seems to be due to the obscure nature of the desktop directory. That´s why i never use it. Have several testing areas, where i copy files over to manipulate them.

Rest is done in VMs, where i don´t care, as they were resetted too offen.

I've licensed Virtual CD since v.4 so I still carry on to use it. Besides I have a lot of ISO Image on Network Storage which I could easy access from Anywhere, even from remote locations. Couldn't with the build in from PowerISO or UltraISO!

Anyway, as all times, is all about what you realyy need to Apps for to do the work!
