When I go to disk clean up and go to D drive, the only option is an empty recycle bin.

All the other files to be cleaned cannot be seen.

My D disk space is shrinking and didn't add anything.

(Vista - don't know the version but it was new in 2007)

Tried a disk clean up where you go to command prompt and type in commands, that kept coming up "access denied"

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Also, why is the space shrinking? Once before this happened and I somehow located the back up files and deleted them (I know NOTHing about computers and not sure how I did this). This helped, but the then the D drive is full again.

Back up is turned off I believe.

try this http://www.mydigitallife.net/2007/06/26/how-to-change-and-limit-system-restore-storage-space-usage-size-in-vista-with-vssadmin/ to set limit on the shadow copy.

Maybe turn off the system restore. If your system is running well, and you don't add/remove a ton of programs or tweek often, you dont need it. This is my opinion, but maybe turning it off, reboot, and see if it helps. You can turn it back on if no relief..
