I'm on 9926 and don't want 10041. How do I keep Windows from updating to new preview build but still get the normal updates? This probably has already been discussed somewhere but google didnt help. With this forced apple like update crap you have no control at all over what gets installed and what not.
You can't. You can choose the slow ring which means that you get newest builds to TP slowly but in the end you will still get newer build of TP. AFAIK build 10041 is now on the slow ring. A question though, why you installed 9926 and don't want other builds?
because 10041 is unbearable and i'll wait for a build that's less f**ked up or go back to 8.1 tried changing the preview brach to something that does not exist but it just won't show kb3035129.
I have reverted to win8 too swtor ctd a lot with 10041 build 9926 was fine. Search freezes with 10041 too
One solution which will work, but not "simple" by any stretch of the imagination: Deploy a WSUS on your network and point your Windows 10 machines to it for updates. Manually import the Windows 10 updates into WSUS. Result: Windows 10 systems get "normal" updates but no new builds. When you're ready for a new build, download the ISO and use that.
but there are no downloadable updates just via windows update or the dumbed down version thats left of it
