Maybe there are many things that we don't know about KMS. Everybody seems happy but nobody knows exactly what they are doing. I don't think that people of MS are fools. It makes sense that they are cautious with retail customers though...they are much more than companies/organizations.

@Viggen66 - Microsoft are not flexible they are just bending in order to let you go. Once you are in you will ask why did you go in? Microsoft - GOD of Windows. Right? They are aware of what you do with their OS. Spreading their product all over the world is like spreading the disease. So they welcome all sources in order to cover the people.
The question in here is why a KMS server has unlimited activations, i'm not referring to a local emulated kms server because that is beyond the control of anyone, but you can take your laptop to your organization and have Windows + Office with no problems, why does MS release in the first place these anti piracy tools?
Is that your question or your concern?. KMS is something that is meant for corporates, in order to use the KMS Key the minimum no. of systems is 25 and the max is unlimited. This method is for big corporates with 50K employees or more, but obviously some people leak this technology. Ultimately, Microsoft have big fish to fry they can only concentrate on the corporates and they don't have time to worry about the small companies / users those who leak their technology (though they are aware of this situation, and they do take steps in order to prevent it, by terminating the contract with the company / school or organization those who leaked their technology).
Warning: Uninstalling KMSpico v9.0.2.20131024_Beta Edition, Enable SmartScreen when finshed Uninstalling. Can this new KMSpico app activate Server 2012 R2 Essentials as well? I've been looking forward to upgrading my server box at home.
Do I have to download an .ISO file of Windows 8.1, or is it good to do the upgrade from the Windows Store?
Does this work with media center or only on enterprise editions? I am running windows 8 wmc edition and would like to upgrade to 8.1 wmc edition.
If you're using WMC, you're likely using a retail key, either bought or obtained for free while MS was giving them out for free. I upgraded just fine from a free WMC key.
I ma actually using the keys and activation from TechNet and the good old windows toolkit on my kms activated windows 8 with media center. I was wondering if this would do the same on windows 8.1 media center.
I had trouble until i changed My DNSs to the google ones, Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 You can change them on the Networks settings > ethernet properties> IPv4 properties Without the google DNSs it shows the server is down message
The issue was with online backups not being successfully restored while the net was disabled. If you used phone activation, you're fine with just about any backup method.
