I managed to do KMS activation on all machines on the network, with KMSmicro open in just 1 machine. On network machines Run: slmgr.vbs -ipk KMS KEY slmgr -skms IP from machine on network that KMSmicro is open slmgr.vbs -ato IMPORTANT: The first time that you open the KMSmicro the windows firewall asks permission to create rules in the firewall, you must grant permissions, otherwise not be able to activate the machines on the network. *Updated instructions for KMSmicro V9 Portable
Hi guys, first i just want to say thanks for the work you all put it to this And maybe you have any ideas/pointers as to why i can't seem to get this to work? I'm trying to activate Win 8 Pro x64 using these local kms servers, but i'm having no luck. * I have disabled UAC via the 2 registry entries. * Then i run ELDI's version of the KMS server by right clicking on 1-KMSmicro.cmd and running as Admin. * The kms loads to the menu and i hit T to sync the time. This brings up a box with time servers in which it scrolls through - i've left this for ages but it doesn't seem to do much. Does it eventually stop scrolling? * If i then run 2-Activation.cmd (again via right clicking), it starts off by saying "The software Protection Service is not started" It then carries on and says it's installed the key and the window then exits, but Windows isn't activated. * if i then run "slmgr /skms 127.0.0.1:1688" followed by "slmgr /ato" (while the kms is running), i get a windows script host dialog telling me "Error: 0xC004F074 The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated - No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted." I have also tried heldigard's v6 - but this one takes forever to load (over 15 mins atleast) and i still had the same issue. Am i doing something wrong? Or do you have any suggestions as i'm at a loss lol.
Did you try activating without the script, via an elevated CMD using the commands: Code: slmgr /skms 127.0.0.1:1688 slmgr /ato Maybe you activate your system first against one of the "official" servers. Then maybe build your own Host.
One bit of advice I learnt from the Vista days is that many posters having problems dont have fresh installs. they have "done" things to it, modified files, tried activation methods, all of which can cause problems. When in doubt, and having problems that all but a tiny percentage are not having, Wipe the computer and do a fresh install. tends to work
Hi Slave77 - i tried those commands but get the "No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted" dialog. I installed Win 8 using the key from the Win 8 Repository thread - it says Retail, but no mention of VL? Thanks for the quick replies
I should also add, that after letting the NetTime option in the KMS run for a good 10 mins or so, it pops up a message saying "No response from any server"
close to x-mas, I do not want to take someone's illusion but you probably must do a new install and use the VL key
After changing the key to the VL one, still get the "No KMS Key Server could be contacted" message when trying to activate against the offline server. But if i try to activate against the online one (columbia.edu), it activates no problem. I'd really like to get the offline one working for future use, but for some reason windows is unable to see the offline server I'll try a clean install with the VL key and see what happens.....fingers crossed.
