My computer has a ksod problem before it gets to the login screen. ctrl+alt+del and activating sticky keys both do not work. When the computer gets to the black screen, the monitor is on full brightness. After about a second, it dims down and the mouse appears, movable. A few seconds later, the screen brightens and the computer freezes, or seems to. The mouse gets stuck at where I moved it to and will not move. I waited for an hour but nothing happened. Turning it off and on just gets it back to this. My laptop, which has the problem, runs on windows 7 home premium. System restore does not work and does not fix the problem. Neither does system repair. If I am forced to restore the whole hard drive, is there any way to backup via command prompt? Also, the problem is said to be a problem with a recent update or patch. THat is what system repair said.

    Hello m8,
can u get into safe mode?
If so, type in the search box "cmd" without the quotes
Right click the cmd that it finds and run as administrator
Then in the command box try "chkdsk /r c:" again without the quotes.

    Good luck
