Thank you komm for your continued support for Windows 8.1, I for one do not plan on moving to 10 until I can get Windows Media Center running on this
Thanks for latest KUC for Windows 8.1 KUC does not know KB3083669 and KUC wants to remove KB2982998, but Windows Update ist offering this update again - maybe it is needed for WU satisfy
Anyone else have this problem with the latest KUC? Download KB3089023 missing on server. KB2999226 keeps being flagged as missing even though it gets downloaded. Cannot continue in this case. The download loop seems to be caused by downloading the latest version 1.7, but looking for the old 1.5 version. Anyone have a link for the old version so I can test my theory?
Are you on Win8.1 x86? (KB3089023-x64 downloads properly for me..) packages_OUT.TXT shows it's looking for 6.3.1.7 ver of KB2999226. I do have the 1.5 ver for Win8.1 x64, but nothing for x86. If x64 is needed, I'll upload it and PM you a link.
Yes, Win8.1 x86. I downloaded the missing file from Microsoft and added it to the KUC repo which got around that problem. For KB299926, I changed my packages.txt from 6.3.1.5 to 6.3.1.7 so no download was offered which let KUC generate the remaining cmd files. I'm still wondering how KUC determines if a file is missing. In my case the file got downloaded, but was still being flagged as missing. Maybe it does a hash compare with a hash on the server that doesn't match - hence the bad flag.
Ah, smart way to get around that problem (modify the packages.txt). There are four versions of KB2999226. All with the same name but different hashes, so yes, KUC probably is checking the hash (not sure though).
KUC 1.2.8.3003 no longer lists KB3035583 as ADDLATER after applying all updates. Only the following files are listed. Prior to running the KUC cmd files, this KB was also listed along with KB3072318 as ADDLATER Code: [KB#] [Version] [State] [Release Type] [Install Time] [Package Identity] [Language] [Filename] [Superseded] [SupersedingUpdates] [KUC-Type] [KUC-State] [KUC-StateRemarks] [NotInstalledSupersedingUpdates] 3042058 6.3.1.0 Installed Security Update 8/8/2015 21:18 3042058 Windows8.1-KB3042058-x86.msu GM OK/INFO Additional steps are required to configure this update! 3063843 6.3.1.0 Installed Update 8/8/2015 21:18 3063843 Windows8.1-KB3063843-x86.msu GM OK/WARNING Additional steps are required to enable this update! 3072318 6.3.2.0 Update 3072318 Windows8.1-KB3072318-v2-x86.msu GM ADDLATER Do not use dism to intall this update. Do an online installation. 1.2.8.3003
It shows as "addlater" on x64 with KUC 1.2.8.3003. Are you sure it didn't get installed earlier? Code: 3035583 6.3.1.45 Update 3035583 Windows8.1-KB3035583-x64.msu GM, Other ADDLATER Do not use dism to intall this update. Do an online installation. This is a package for Get Windows X.
I created a packages txt file as input for KUC. The KUC output shows two KBs as ADDLATER. After running remove and update cmds, 3035583 is no longer listed. It was not installed according to the last packages.txt. KUC removed 26 KBs and added 40. Maybe it's an x86 quirk that did not get tested.
One more question- KB3035583 is only shown as needed if you select the "Get Windows X" option on the first options screen. You are selecting that? BTW, komm released a new version of KUC today that fixes two issues you reported yesterday. I also will send you a PM with info from him about how KUC determines if the correct version of an update is available. In a nutshell- it uses file size. KB3083669 should be known now in the just-released version of KUC. KB2982998 is an old update for IIS. It's superseded by KB3000850- do you have that one installed? Do you have the IIS feature enabled? You can check in Control panel->Program and Features->Turn Windows features on or off.
I think I know what happened. My online system did not have 3035583 installed, but it did have 3064683, which caused KUC to also set the option for Get Windows 10. That's why 3035583 showed up in the first KUC output file. Later, 3054683 got removed because it was superseded by 3072318 and the new packages.txt no longer showed anything installed related to GWX, so KUC did not list 3035583.
Hi guys. Seems trying to download missing files in the august win7-64sp1 version of the tool 5 files are missing on KUC's server, anyone else had this issue? error 404 for these files kb3076895 kb3078071 kb3082849 kb3075851 kb3087985 --update-- kb3078071 is IE8 related, I uninstalled IE8, after its installed, rerunning KUC will remove it, but then it also readds it as well so is an obvious loop, for now I have left it installed. I also noticed kb3035583 is now treated as a normal update with no option to disable it in KUC, I would like this to be removed in the sept package or a tickbox added to make it optional, thanks. --further update-- Read the posts about Get windows X option, it is ticked but I cannot untick it, the box is greyed out. --more updates still -- Looks like he was prepping a new version, new update available, which I guess explains the missing files as those updates are now obselete. Also I uninstalled kb3035583 manually, which has left the get windows X box now unticked and unghosted.
The issue I have left which I have had for many months, is that every time KUC is run, windows update loses its configuration. e.g. It forgets hidden updates. It has no update history.
