Extra cmd window showing again with latest release. Edit: Komm has updated the exe to close the cmd window v.1.3.012.0408
Thanks so much for KUC W7 With the latter, it is indicated that the KB3072595 is superseded by KB3102236 But in KB3102236, there is no "amd64_microsoft-windows-d..ore-files.resources", "microsoft-windows-d..toryservices-ntdsa" Thanks
apologies if the answer to this is earlier in the thread but there seems no FAQ to answer my query. So I have used KUC for the first time today on a clean install of windows 8.1 update 1, when I run the remove old batch file every single removal fails, checking the dsim.log shows this is due to them been permanent updates. Also why is there updates on a clean install of windows? odd? yes automatic updates has never been enabled. I would expect KUC to know whats permanent and handle it? or is this normal and I should ignore it? I noticed there is a box marked experimental to ignore permanent updates, should I just tick it to resolve the problem or is it not that simple? Thanks Currently I have ignored it and waiting for the 300+ updates to install which is going very slowly on my weak laptop
Hi chrcoluk, as you've seen, the updated Win8.1 .isos (Update 1, in your case) do indeed have updates already integrated into them. And since they're permanent, KUC can't remove them. You can ignore the errors shown when it tries to remove the permanent updates. Or if you don't want to see the errors, use the file "ignore.txt" that's included in the .zip that contained the KUC .exe. Put it in the folder where you run KUC, then when you run KUC and get to the last screen, put a checkmark in the option for "don't try to remove possible perm. updates". It will not try to remove the updates listed within the ignore.txt file then. If it still tries to remove a permanent update, just add the KB # to the list in ignore.txt with the rest of the KB #'s.
This is expected behavior, some (or most) win8.1 updates cannot be extracted manually on host system below win8.1 and the only way to integrate LDRbranch is by manually extracting them so, you should not check LDR option in KUC or, use win8.1 as host os
thankfully its only some, 90% of the updates were GDR and integrated fine. So is about 18 updates probably to do post install now instead of 300+ Eventually this pc will be win 8.1 so then I will have 8.1 as the host OS. Is the update 3 iso only for enterprise? I found no update 2 or 3 retail iso for download. Ahh just noticed the link PointZero kindly posted, thanks.
edit: succeeded in "injecting" simplix updates in a w7sp1 WIM (made with rt7 v2.6b ). The installation went straight forwarding, the windows updater did not download any updates though...just stuck at 0% Updated this install with KUC (great program btw) Now I got stuck with OLD RTM and bad files which I did the suggested dism/...superseded/... edit2 making progress. fresh install , w7 then updated online with sp1.exe next...KUC had the same OLD RTM error but then the DISM command was succesful and as of such the KUC had no errors anymore. Now updating with KUC..had to run twice before the files from repo were installed, I assume the exclusive had to be installed first ? That leaves me with doubting about Simplex method or the prior RT7 sp1 integration. Where does it go wrong?? any thoughts?
My DVD is w7 only, updated SP1 with RT 7lite and as this program is abandoned I have some doubts if itl works ok. Could use NtLite. I tried using KUC offline on the created WIM, but failed as I did not get all the command lines right, perhaps there is a util for that purpose? Is KUC capable of integrating sp1 as well?
