There must be something that causes this problem. First, we know that there is something wrong with the DHCP assignment. 2nd, manually entering the ip configuration does not work either. But your adsl connection works your on laptop. Beats me what the problem is... Are you using the same lan cable? If not, please use the one you have on your laptop. Remove it from the laptop and connect that lan cable to your desktop, so we can rule out a lan cable issue.
used the same cable used a barnd new cable that came with the modem used an old cable a high quality one. used a custom made cable sadly all are NO GO.
Sorry to hear that. I can't think of any other possible solution to your problem. One last thing, you might want to check your isp policy in your country. Does it allow multiple connections? Is it mac address specific? Some ISPs filter mac address. Sorry this is all i have for you.
could this be a MB issue? I updated the bios to the latest and didnt face this prblem. after a bit I installed new ram,PSU,HDD and VGA. now I cant seem to connect to the net any more. the strange thing is that also the new lan card doesnt seem to work.
yse it allows a week ago i conected 5 pc's to my modem on WiFi and my laptop on cable and working very good.
Yes it could be an MB problem but you said that you disabled the built in ethernet and installed a pci??? So if you disable the built in one, I would assume that the pci should have worked.
acctually I didnt disable the onboard lan. I got to local area connections. and tried the solution on booth and not working. I will try to dissable the onboard lan from the bios and test to see if i get any results
You could also try disabling windows firewall for the meantime, just to cover all grounds. If you have a wireless network pci card lying around, you can also try that and see if you can connect to your wireless router.
disableled the on board lan also the fire wall too. not working. I dont have a Wireless network PCI card now I will kill this PC its driving me mad
Well, we did try and I believe we covered quite a lot. It can drive you mad I know. Just take a break and tinker with it later. It seems to me that it might be a hardware problem and not an o.s. issue. Anyway, I gotta go now, hopefully you get it to work somehow. Other members might have other ideas, so don't kill the pc just yet.
thanks for all the help. wish some one would help me with this issue. the thing that is crazy it was working fine a week ago. I am almost about to give up and go for the hard solution which is to change the MB with a new one since I cant RMA this one that I have. bummer its brand new only 15 days and I cant retun it to Tigerdirect.com
I never had the chance to purchase anything from tigerdirect but don't you get 30 days for an RMA, except for consumable items/products? You could also try using other driver versions, not necessarily the latest, from the manufacturer.
thanx for all your help you made my day. now I am 100% sure its the MB that is messing me up. just now the whole system crashed and its frezes on boot up. I have been having some issues with this damn MB. and it's too expensive to send it back to the seller were it cost me 256$ and the sending fee from Saudia Arabia back to the seller is about 179$ so better to get a new MB from my local retail shop. I got a desktop from the office and tested it on the modem and it worked like a dream. just my luck I got cought with the flashy specs of the Asus Maximus formula 3. thank you for all the time that I bothered you and one more time thank you and thatx to the forum. I love you guys.
You are most welcome. I didn't realize you were so far away. Sorry it turned out to be a mb problem. The vast majority of people here are helpful, believe me just reading the threads helped me a great deal.
