My old HP laptop is a SATA-I 1.5GB/s.... Does not sound much, will it be worth it, if I change the HDD to an SDD? Thanks
Small ssd's are cheap so yes, do it. I've updated some old crappy atom based netbooks & it just gives these old devices new life - even if they don't run at full speed...
I'm still using my 13 years old TC1100 (Pentium M @1.1 Ghz) tanks to a PATA SSD. Today it runs win 8.1 faster than XP in 2004, so yes, do expect miracles.
You forget how it was before..... Few years ago, I added two 1GB ramsticks, for which I paid $1 each, so I could install Win 7, after all that machine is from the last century! I dislike all that unnecessary nonsense that is nowadays added for profit. Things that no one asked for! I gave already seen several threads here of people no longer being able to instrall what they want. And for an old layperson like me its fun to learn new things. Once the SSD is running, I will if the CPU can be changed, and then learn how to. As it is a 479 socket, it might not be at all....
Thanks to all those, who helped. After a total investment of by now $40, my $200 HP Laptop from last century, is now not as fast as an i5, but it is totally usable while travelling.
