So I have pretty ancient laptop that original had Millenium Edition but it was installed with XP which according to the owner was legally purchased key and been using fine I was attempting to install Avast to do some clean up and apparently when I left the boot scan to fix stuff automatically (nvr gonna trust these option anymore) it touched some genuine files and now it shows error of "error is preventing the system to check the license" something along that and wont go past the login screen. (safe mode hangs so its dead xp) I am attempting to reinstall Windows XP VOL Korean (got my hands on the iso) and running the bootable disk to find if there is any slp for xp but no luck (well duh, its millenium edition-ed laptop T.T ) The bios is Pheonix which I looked at the stickied DMI tool but the title implies that it only works with Award, American Megatrend and Intel is there no hope?
since OEMBIOS tool didnt detect any slp, from its default 126(pretty sure) is there way to rip it from bios?
Oops... skipped it. Anyway, you can only add SLP string to a Phoenix bios if any bios update is available which seems impossible in this case. Better to stick with volume license.
Isnt all volume license key blacklisted or is it pre-activated from installation (no key input required thru entire installation and future use, since this is my first time dealing with volume licensing)
you can use the boot disc and have HP applied. Alternatively you can flash with phlash16 to add the slp thant way.. phlash16 /DMM:HewlettPackard if fails do: phlash16 /DMM:HewlettPackard bios.wph bios.wph is bios to be flashed edit: just saw Sebus indicate no bios update...some specifics on the board would be nice...
now at the "Please wait" at sp3 update with windows 800x600 Windows boot screen it looks frozen but mouse moves and language bar is interactable, been there for 2hr now... reboot? EDIT: well google search and now i shall run chdsk, shall edit if I succeed EHHH FIXED!
