Gabe already stated all insiders must have a valid win7/8.x license to qualify. Just being an insider will not qualify you.

There are non believers here, it's a shame if they try to upgrade without qualifying OS under, lol:confused:

The question im wondering about is if im already on preview and i have a legit 8.1 will i have to go back and to 8.1 just to upgrade the free Win10 RTM? or will it already show i'm active through my insider account i used to reserve my copy?

Or can i use my Windows 8.1 Pro Key to activate my Windows 10 Pro.... its so very foggy on how it works.

You need to put RTM over your 8.1 Pro, and since its retail, you can put it on another computer should yours bite the dust.

you have one year to get the free upgrade. You know actually upgrade and get it installed. After you do, it is yours for the lifetime of the device you upgraded it on. Not just one year. Once upgraded and installed then you will be able to clean install at anytime.

he means insiders are s**t to MS and you still need to be a holder of a valid license of windows 7 or windows 8.x to upgrade free. No insiders get free rides in the MS little yellow bus.

What I was saying is the RTM is free for 1 year if no qualifying OS under it.

I would assume no, since the free upgrade requires a valid license

I think your mind is complicating things far too much, this isnt a book reading subscription. You either take advantage of the offer and get it free within one year or you pay. IF you take advantage of the free offer within the one year it is yours for free forever on the device you installed and upgraded it too.

why is this so hard to understand

Yes it's a mess, maybe they do mean just stay on whatever build is right before RTM and that's free for a year.

Thick yes, you big Hoss here, tell MS to clear up this er, ah , stuff.
