What is the phrase "escrow build" means? And in particular the word "escrow" ? I've seen it agian in past but still cant understand it.
"Sometimes Microsoft released builds referred to as “Escrow”. Escrow means the development of a branch gets stopped and the code is being tested. If Microsoft or its testers don’t discover any serious bugs (“showstoppers”), the current build becomes the final milestone (usually RC or RTM, but sometimes there are also beta escrow builds). Escrow builds are usually handed out to TAP (Technology Adoption Program) testers, ISVs, IHVs, etc."
Today's build is currently at build 10148, so with the normal speed rate at about 1 new build a day, maybe we will see Pre-RTM as build 10150 on Wednesday this week.
We won't see 10150 since there is a test phase. They never release a build as soon as they compile. I Therefore, probably 10144 is the next candidate.
And that means what exactly? The only thing I want to see is what was just released in the fast ring 5 minutes ago.
