I installed it on my ASUS 541UA with a 500gb SSD, is as good as any . I had Blue screens daily with 14986, so far non with this build. Everything works as it should
Here are a few things that don't work in this build. Developer Mode does not work fully. Cortana will not work if you pick any other language other than US english. You can not install other packages from this build (because there is none) also you can't install from other builds (causes errors) Can not change network discover within setting app (switch is greyed out) Can not add Bluetooth device to network because (ADD-Device) button does not do anything when clicked. If anyone has any others please add to this list or if you have fixes/works please add them. Thanks
Wondering so they removed the Desktop icon settings Linkfrom Settings>Personalization>Themes? Aah, M$, it's still accessible when searching for it in Start menu.
Restart slow Login slow Activation in settings not working keeps spinning OS feels slow so I think I go back to previous version edit sys reset to an earlier build was fast
I just hope you can upgrade from this build as it was not officially released. If you do a clean install of every build then you will have no problem, if you by chance "Save everything" then it may get exciting. So you have choices, go back to previous build and be secure, or cross your fingers and hope the spinning wheel is nice to you in the new year, It's kinda like Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry Movie (Make my Day), we shall soon know?
this is the only reason why i havent try this build.....if u cant upgrade u have to clean install all over again....im sure will see something new soon.
My "clean" install in VMware workstation w/ 2GB of memory & 7200 RPM Hdd only took 45 minutes, after hitting the 'next' button. At lease this one clean installed fast compared to earlier ones.
*Excellent - your SPECS? *I am comparing it to (WU) Pro insider upgrades my installs on Test Rig1 on real hardware & small partition & slow (2.4GHz) CPU. This VMware install was on Test rig 2.
Okay so back to 14986 now and there is not screen flashing when you start Firefox or settings app. So that is and was a major pain. All is good in the world. 14986 is much faster too.
I upgraded on my test PC and fresh installed on my ASUS . I had pro 14986 installed and it upgraded too 14997 Enterprise. I had to use the toolkit to activate so I could set my settings. Took about 20min. Everything works. Bluetooth paired with another PC, I also used DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:E:\sources\sxs to get net 3.5 to work. I got an error trying to add it thu add remove programs.I like this build. So far
I believe what he is referring to is the next build for Windows Insiders that is official, the build 14977 is not official, 14986 is.
Yep there is: Code: dism.exe /image:f:\mount /Get-TargetEditions Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.14393.0 Image Version: 10.0.14997.1001 Editions that can be upgraded to: Target Edition : Education The operation completed successfully.
Sure it is not perfect. It is less usable than public preview builds. That's why it was supposed to be the internal build only. But still, it is very nice to try out those new features and changes in 14997, isn't it? This leak made me happy Public insider preview builds are boring.
