That's what I'd initially thought. I didn't know whether there would be Americanisms in the OS if the install language was set to English (United States)?
This seems to contradict the admin note in the first post; It seems that WMC Upgrade keys may work? Maybe if used as (or after) an actual upgrade from 8.0>8.1? Any confirmations?
I don't care what anyone says, 8.1 is not a service pack, it's not even named SP1, and service packs contain all previous hotfixes and updates, this completely revamps the Metro side of the OS and afaik it contains a new kernel too, it even has new wallpapers, never heard of any service pack doing all that
Well, you CAN. I just did this, installed this 8.1 Pro, activated with my own key and then installed WMC which works fine. Yet, Windows isnt activated anymore after installing WMC and wont accept any key successfully used to activated before installing WMC
Does "show libraries" in file explorer work or is it just me ? It seems that when I choose to hide them (that is uncheck the box), they are still there lol
The problem is that they haven't enabled the WMC upgrade from their activation servers. They will likely do that shortly before or on the date they make 8.1 generally available. When that does happen, I'd recommend backing up your activation folder (%windir%\system32\spp) and copy it to a nice cozy safe place. Until they make it available to activate through their web servers, I'm not really sure if there's any way to do it. I guess their phone service could allow them before their web servers, but I doubt it

Yah it's a little weird. They call the Living Room PC - Lounge. They use U's in words like Colour. They replace a lot of nouns with ones that are more common in GB. You could set the locale to en-GB and it should set the time/date and currency etc, but the system words that are used will be American until you install from an en-GB RTM which will likely be some time away
Hi, I have Windows 8 Core OEM original with its key, doing a clean install of 8.1 with serial core, after I turn on my 8.1 with OEM key or not? Thank you.
Ah yes sorry I misunderstood, you need the en-GB ISO for 100% UK install, but generally doesn't make a lot of difference to the end user as we speak the same language, and the keyboard / date / time will be in en-GB anyway
