mhm, Microsoft said, Win8.1 is an "update"... but when I use a "ei.cfg" with [Channel] Volume [VL] 0 and start the win8.1 setup from windows 8 pro wth mediacenter (legit key), Setup says: Something happened, Setup has faild to validate the product key
Info: I'm confused by ppl saying you can update... Win 8 Pro (MAK activated). I have the 8.1 Enterpise VL ISO, boot from it and there's an upgrade option, choose it and then told to boot into Windows and run setup again to upgrade. Do that and then choose to keep Windows settings, personal files and apps then when installation is going to begin you're advised that it's going to install Enterprise, at no stage is there any dialog for entering a key. So how do you upgrade an 8.0 MAK activated Pro installation - wait for the official update via store?
You couldn't use an WMC Key for to setup Windows 8.1! Use the Key you find on first p;age of this thread for to setup Windows 8.1!
dunno, but what does not work for me is "show libraries" in file explorer - folder options. They are still visible even when the box is unchecked
Thank you bud, so the successful upgrades ppl are talking about are with Retail keys entered after the upgrade?
It gave me error as well, but the links to the iso in this thread contain the same iso as the torrent (or not ?), so I do not know what is up with this.
Volume activation acts bitchy now, needs new MAKs and gVLK. So far only retail activated Pro is confirmed.
It was only a matter of time MS was changing the activation process to a more complicated one (for those who like to benefit for free!)! I could wait for the public appearance of the new version and that our old original key's will be accepted for activation. As well as for the new and updated informations from Microsoft How To...... (change from KMS5 to KMS6)!
