Maybe irrelevant but I've thrown the towel in trying to upgrade an 8.0 Pro MAK activated. Tried 2-3 times but as someone else mentioned it seems a no no to stay VL activated. I guess you need a retail key or wait for update via store when official. Edit: ^ Sheesh, that must be the fastest ban in forum history! That was quick off the mark!
Just tried the update from Retail Windows 8 (fully updated) and the update is actually soft-resinstall, i didn't had any option to keep my files/settings, so be careful when upgrading.
that's great thanx you are the man But I have a question ,,whats the different between WINDOWS.8.1.ENTERPRISE and WINDOWS.8.1 PRO
Almost certain they could if they really wanted to (from a legal standpoint), but I doubt they will (PR reasons).
I'll try in 2 hours to install it on my ASUS Laptop that has a Windows 8 Single Lang key preinstalled, if it didn't work I will then use a PID.txt file of my Win 8 Pro key. will be back with the answer in a while
Installed everything without any issue, activated windows with retail key and office 2013, updated drivers for amd via windows update, so far no issue at all, amazing job via microsoft, everything seems much faster and fluid.
It probably would if you put the install key in the pid.txt instead of your key. You have to install using the default 8.1 key, then change the key after install.
