Is it possible to activate a clean install of the MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.1.ENTERPRISE.RTM.X64.VOLUME.ENGLISH.DVD-WZT using the Windows.8.pro.X64 originality activated via phone key ?
Ahoy maties! It's that time again eh? I love coming back to this place. I've come to confirm something. If ye land lubbers were the lucky few to activate windows 8 "Enterprise" by phone (permanent activation, very lucky)... sadly you cannot install 8.1 enterprise and stay activated. If one wanted to reinstall Win8 Ent, all they would have to do is backup an copy the "store" folder (tokens) in safe mode and reboot. This will not work as a means to activate Win 8.1 Ent. So if you were thinking about updating, don't do it yet. Solutions will be available soon enough
I was able to install the 8.1 preview drivers on my installation of Pro 8.1. I'm using a HD 6800 series card. Duel monitors working fine. No problems as of yet. Bu I just got this thing setup and activated. So time will tell. Tekman_1
I realise we can't activate without valid keys at the moment but is there any way to suppress the 'Activate your PC' go to PC settings full screen takeover that happens once every few hours?

/edit opps I see you meant from the phone activation string. No that string changes, even if everything is the same. Yes use the pro or core key provided to install. Which ever you need. for your retail key version. On first boot change the key to your retail. reboot Control panel. Add feature insert your WMC and install. It will reboot and all will be activated.
If you have your retail key follow my instructions. You can not re-use a phone activation number string. You have to do phone activation over again.
heres a hard one theres a command for to see what your activation is from has all the details and i cant remember what it is it pretty much dumps every thing to do with it i know it starts slmgr.vbs just dont remeber the switch or the sub-command
I just been running a old copy of MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.PROFESSIONAL.RTM.X64.ENGLISH.DVD-WZT that I activated over phone way back when. Your saying the key MS gave me over the phone won't work to do a clean in stall windows8.1 pro what about on a upgrade instead of clean install ?

Did they give you an actual retail key? Or did you use KMS activations and then use a free WMC key and do the phone activation? You have to use the keys provided with the WZ ISO to install it. It does not actually activate just lets you install. To activate you must have your actual retail key and on first boot change to your actual retail key.
Getting me confused I installed the old win8pro WZT and then went thru the MS phone process to get it activated as i remember you keep swapping entering number strings back and forth with MS on the phone recording and at the end MS gives you a key to enter and that activated it been working ever since Don't know if its a actual retail key just know it activated it ????
