I didn't mean reverting to Windows 7 in any way, shape, or form, was referring to the many leaks that preceded the release of Windows 7.
It's an uncompressed version of a Microsoft Update package. The ones you download from Windows Update are .CAB versions but they do relatively the same thing. CODYQX4 was referring to it being a bad idea to apply said update because it's not clear if there will be issues installing over said unofficial files later on. Scenario: Person uses MSU leak to update their system Person tries to use Windows Update to update after applying MSU update Person gets various errors because Windows Update knows that this MSU file was never officially released It's just a bad idea to use it if you don't know what you're doing. If you're very familiar with msu files and uninstall techniques and backing up important files, knock yourself out. Just don't go crying to anyone if you break your system.
There are several hotfixes not distributed by windows update, and not generally available, that don't break windows update but those who will use leaked MSU will probably receive first updates after April patch Tuesday. Until than you will have to rely on leaked releases.
I dual-boot (actually 5 versions of Windows on one HD) so that I have one just for testing. I have saved an image of it so that after testing I can restore the original version of Windows all ready for the next test. Meanwhile, the version I use for daily use is untouched by the testing. OMG, just noticed this is my 200th post.
I hope that there will be an Aero glass theme in the final build of the update! Also it's will be cool if they make boot up to the desktop enabled as default. Also it's cool that Metro apps are windowed! So it looks like a small update but there will be a lot of useful improvements. I don't know why they don't name the update Windows 8.2! Waiting for a new leak...
