Trying to install 10036 from Windows 8.1 gives me this error:- Windows can't be installed because this PC has an unsupported disk layout for UEFI firmware. Please reboot and change the PC's firmware to BIOS to allow Windows setup to continue. If I try to install the previous technical preview 9926 I do not get this error and everything installs ok. Any ideas?
happened to me with a previous release. I had to unplug a second hdd that had some boot file remnants on it. Unplugged the second hdd, upgraded and then plugged the drive back in and it worked fine. hope it's nothing more complicated than that. cheers
well just finished installing build10036 took almost one hour to install......this OS is total garbage my audio no longer works....the icons are hideous.....this is a worst build than 9926 no wounder MS did not release this. i recommend stick to 9926 not worth upgrading to to this version....wait until MS releases the next build.
I upgraded my VMware workstation 11 Enterprise x64 9926 install w/ the Magnet torrent (Pro) on Chris123NT post link. Restarted 2x & left it running for 1 hour. Then ran "Disk cleanup" & got rid of Windows.old that way... no problems so far. The Enterprise > Pro 10036 x64 DVD install didn't give me a choice of which OS or ask for a key, it just went ahead & installed Pro. Only problem so far has been changing the desktop using the built-in images available, it worked but not very smoothly. Thank you for the linkls
I had the same problem after upgrading my 9926, but a little RESET did the job ... Now it's really working just fine!
You can also use an Office 2013 Retail key, and if you really know how to mess with the licensing you can KMS it with a bit of work.
Reset from : settings --> update and recovery --> remove everything and reinstall windows! and yes, I'm talking about the Audio problem. I tried resinstalling the driver, uninstalling it, updating it.. nothing worked! so I reinstalled windows from the setting app, and everything is perfect now!
If you try that, it merely comes back and says that the key is for 2013 and asks if you want to install it instead. I've seen some elaborate procedure of installing 2013 first, or something like that, but I haven't tried it yet and am not really anxious to try.
