Linux is a superior OS admittedly in basically every way. However Windows should be on the same par as Linux regardless.
If you asked me about Windows 7 UI to be redesigned and returned to Windows 10, what you arguably want, I would instantly say that idea is based on complacency not on the idea of change. Most people who clamor for the return of 7 UI or features are in the old and in the few - who are used to that particular 'oldies OS' when the contemporary generation is evolving very fast - that involves the people and technology of 2015. Hardware has moved faster in than the software in this avenue according to online information. We can not accept Windows to be left behind by bringing past Windows 7 user's interfaces into the present one. I can explicitly say here that what you don't have in Windows 7 or 8 while relating them with Windows 10 are in the core design, metamorphosing in stages. Like the way Start menu is accessed this time around is different even different from Windows 8.1 that tried to correct the Start menu error in the prior version(Windows 8). Windows defender has been overhauled, Internet Explorer would be possibly be replaced by 'Project Spartan' (a browser that fully supports HTML 5), Cortana is going to be an active guide, it OS for cross-platform and there is guarantee you would have all your applications across different hardware(Mobile, PC, Xbox-Hololens, tablet, etc) and just to mention but a few. These are things you didn't have in previous Windows versions. The transparency was requested by Insiders through Feedback though. I think if you have something you think is not really going to work in these changes in respect to what you can suggest to make it better you would have to send that to Microsoft. The company is listening this time around. I think you are used to old Windows for complacency reason and there is nothing much more explanatory than that in what I have read in your post.
So, uh, about this massive invasion of privacy that is not optional... Yes. They state they will be collecting handwriting "patterns", speech and typing. Even if you turn it off for Cortana and Windows, Microsoft are still going to get that data. No. Just no.
What in the sweet flying f**k bulls**t are you trying to spread? lol maybe in the server department but everyday desktop usage its garbage. linux will never be good in the desktop department as long as Microsoft and $$$$$$$ are around.
Now I can understand better where you are coming from and your standpoint on this particular Windows 10. Linux is good but not a superior OS to Windows. It is completely wrong to say so without explanations.
Yeah i have no problem with it all tech giants do that... Siri, Google Now, Cortana they are data miners. But if you got nothing to hide you shouldn't have to worry about it.
MS had years to improve their OS and they always end up screwing it up.....they still trying to emulate mac OSX.....i think in win10 their trying so hard their messing it up.
You do realize this is about the internet and not real life right? I've never heard of a huge hack breach at microsoft ever... DDoS'ing sure but it seems to me even if they did round up information on your computer no one could steal it, its not like someone can steal from them, and well Microsoft doesn't need the money by selling your information, your comment is moot and you should delete it. From what i see in the tech world Open Source gets rekt by hackers more than anything you should consider going for something more secure..
So the new install screen is a bit tricky to get to but its in 10036 do a refresh and bam it comes up
I will be simple... Windows 10 has a craptcular UI design s the Windows 7 UI actually made sense in terms of a UI. It was easy to learn as it was intuitive in the layout. However Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 all lack that intuitive feel as more people have been drawn to the "Modern UI". I'm a computer science major these changes I see are simply the look of the operating system. The changes being done with windows 10 are small and basically minute. Let me ask you something who is going to use Cortana in hindsight? Along with Project Spartan little or none of use actually use a Microsoft internet browser for obvious reasons. The transparency has been requested by every insider at this point because Windows 8 removed it because the surface RT tablet could not handle the ram usuage. Let us not dance around this issue. Windows 10 is simply a more functional Windows 8 as it was a half baked OS. If you are going to give me an OS give me one that is fully finished and that actually has a UI that makes sense. At this point with the privacy concerns I have with Windows 10 unfortunately Windows 7 or 8.1 will be the last operating system I use from Microsoft. The company is not listening as it had an ounce of common sense it would make an OS for the tablet people, Desktop people, and phone people. Having a Unified approach simply pisses off everyone as 1 OS cannot handle all of that. Its the reason why Windows mobile has a crap market share. I want an OS that is functional not one which looks like a child drew up the UI on a chalk board. Windows 7 will be the last good OS Microsoft makes in terms of usability. Please stop saying that Windows 7 is so old as it was released 6 years ago. I'm gonna give you a statistic guess how many people still use Windows 7? Half the world around 55.99%. If Windows 7 is not still relevant to Windows 10 then you got issues man.
