After installing the build from Paul's thread I can confirm that my computer can now be turned off properly.

If by broken you mean the option isn't even showing then yes.

At least that's what I saw right before my x99 rig started BSOD looping because of the damn bug they still haven't fixed.

    Hi,

I send you a private msg since I'm not allowed to post links
Check the links - I manage to fix 2 times my installations of 10 Preview, when experience broken Settings or Metro apps. First time it was my laptop after upgrading from 9860 to 9879.. Now it was my PC going from 9879 to 9901..
Most of the simply running windows Metro / store app troubleshooter helps.
You can give a shot to Tweaking.com - Windows Repair (All in One) - it save me in one of my installation.
I can not see any pattern when metro application are broken until now 6 upgrades (in-place ) on 3 different machines and no installation is the same like the other, but this is preview, so I don't expect perfection.

Try upgrading your motherboard drivers or video.
I had the same issue with 9879 - sometimes it's shut down / sometimes just restart the windows, few times just turn off the screens and PC continuing to run. After upgrade of both chipset/motherboard driver and video everything was fine.
This can be a coincidences, but doesn't heart to try.

Thanks for the suggestion. I fixed the issue by doing a clean installation and used the build from Paul's thread instead of the one from MEGA.

I can confirm that the ".Net 3.5 Framework (includes .Net 2.0 and 3.0)" does not install at all. Anyone came up with a fix yet?

    dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:f:\sources\sxs replace f: where your installer drive is located, does this work?

First i tried Paul's new version of the build and still had no luck opening the metro apps so i tried adding this file to the sources folder on the USB and it asked me for a Key so i put the Pro Key in and it installed and at fist i thought it worked setting opened right up i was able to connect to the internet and then the setting app froze so i clicked end task in task manager and tried to reopen with no luck its doing what it did before and so do all the other apps

edit: i used tweaking .com /content /page/ windows_repair_all_in_one.html went to the repair area and only selected fix windows apps and windows store and after i restarted because it told me to all the apps are now working except the windows store (beta) app it says the server stumbled. thx boril for the fix

If the so-easy-to-google method worked for me, I wouldn't have asked for help here, now, would I?

    EDIT:

I'm sorry, my comment came off a bit more passive-aggressive than I intended to. I was incredibly upset that I could not install it, but got a fix - copied a Win8.1 Update 1 sxs folder onto my secondary drive, then copied the Win10 one over, overwriting all files. After that, the dism method worked.

Installed 9901 this morning, and after installing VS 2013, SQL 2012, and Office 2013, I saw a bunch of updates downloaded in Windows Update, but I couldn't install them, and then after a reboot, they were all gone and it kept reporting that my system was up to date. Tried deleting (well, renamed folder) for Windows Update cache and checked again, but still, no updates found. I did notice, however, 1.8gb of files downloaded in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. I stopped the Windows Update service, and started going through each folder in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and running the .msp files in each of the cabs in each of the folders. Not sure if this is the right thing to do, but it seems to be allowing me to manually patch the updates it already found. PITA when there's 63 folders.. but so far, it's the only thing I have figured out to get these updates installed. And yes, have rebooted several times :) Has anyone else found a better solution to getting updates working?
