Installed 9901 this morning, and after installing VS 2013, SQL 2012, and Office 2013, I saw a bunch of updates downloaded in Windows Update, but I couldn't install them, and then after a reboot, they were all gone and it kept reporting that my system was up to date. Tried deleting (well, renamed folder) for Windows Update cache and checked again, but still, no updates found. I did notice, however, 1.8gb of files downloaded in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. I stopped the Windows Update service, and started going through each folder in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and running the .msp files in each of the cabs in each of the folders. Not sure if this is the right thing to do, but it seems to be allowing me to manually patch the updates it already found. PITA when there's 63 folders.. but so far, it's the only thing I have figured out to get these updates installed. And yes, have rebooted several times Has anyone else found a better solution to getting updates working?
How did you get it to work. Having the problem on two laptops. An Acer 1420P and an HP 2310ca Can not install on either one. p
Yes thanks. I finally reread Paul Desmonds #2 showing the magnet. Was driving me crazy - ready to turn in my Jr. geek badge.
Anyone had any luck/got any suggestions on removing all of the watermark? I used KMS and it got rid of part of the bottom watermark, but a few numbers remain on the end, as well as the big 'confidential' paragraph above.
Hmmm ... would highly guess heldi needs to adapt the code for new version . Wait for an update and keep an eye on the KKMSpice thread. You could also post there, not sure if heldi noticed the new build(s) already .
Ahh, yet another 'frankenbuilding-tool'. Still didn't stop giggling about Watermark Remover, started the second time, shortly after the removal, which stated, 'Couldn't determine the Windows version' ... . This is a nice one, since it means the tool uses a WMIC query for the string it removed before, instead of asking registry (the latter additionally still answers in english whereas WMIC introduced dreaded localized output in Win 8.1) :triple-roflmao:.
I know it was posted some where on here about Cortana and how to turn it on but I can't find it. Would like to try it. So if one of you know where it is posted I thank you for pointing me to it.
Good to know that it can recognize voices. It is still in initial development for Windows 10 computer systems and this is Technical Preview we testing it on. So don't expect much from it yet.
Cortana wont even show up for me, probably corrupted installation, also this build is super ugly. first the thin windows borders (not even optional) and now the darkened ugly taskbar with flat colors, lmao, is this a serious design? I wont buy the final if this keeps on, terrible! I also noticed they made the taskbar icons smaller, so lame!
Last post I was send for the Laptop with 9901 and the pic of the now Start Menu, what it shows right now. Up front of that, I was need to connect the Laptop to Ethernet because I couldn't use WiFi anymore, WiFi just works well on my 2 Tablets and an other laptop as it has till the last start before on that Laptop. Even it says by move the Mouse Cursor over the System Launch Icon (lower right) that connections are available, using to get those, it say in the Network & Internet screen: No connections are available!
no issues so far , it fixed a few annoyances i was having .. seemed like the gpu was running out of memory it would start displaying black everywhere. this build fixed it. love the PC Settings window , and how therunning but not selected windows are highlighted on the task bar ... clean design.
Download from Paul's Juke Box Till 75% it was up to 2MB/s and then dropped to know to 4-6.8kB/s!! For that rest of 25% I should wait now more than 2 day's and that time is now near 3 day's and counting!2
