Thanks. That is interesting, actually. I wonder if that is the magic key that would have worked to activate the leaked 9888 build. I remember lots of users having issues installing that build with the normal Preview keys.
The Technical Preview and the one for Enterprise can be used to activate. The for Consumer key is the default installed key Microsoft uses for that SKU and can't be used to activate it.
I didnt use any key, but my installation says expiry 15/4/2015 Hey what i did was write the image to a DVD & upgraded from 9879, it took a while. I must say 9901 is faster than 9879, gettin into desktop is fast in 9901 boots instantly with normal HD no SSD here
I guess it was turned off, the reg edit is somewhere to turn it back on, it works , it is in this thread I think
Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I followed this 100% and still nothing in 9901 works. Neither Store or Store (Beta), Calculator, Settings, etc. None of the Metro stuff works at all in 9901, I'm afraid. Thank you for your time though.
wildbydesign- make sure you download the magnet link version and not the mega one then do a fresh install after you install all your drivers then if the apps don't load then use that program that's all I did and it got everything to work. I also did the ei.cfg file change to professional with the pro key idk if that helps you tho
I may just have to try to download the magnet version, since I downloaded the Mega version initially. That is interesting about adding the ei.cfg, I'm wondering if maybe that helped as well. The problem I now is that I can't even change the product key. Since Settings is mandatory now (the metro app I mean) I can't change the key through the old Control Panel and in this build they have even stopped allowing command line methods to change product key. None of them work. Anyways, I will probably re-download the ISO again using the magnet link and see how it goes. Some people seem to have success with this build, while other report similar failures. I wish we knew the true source of some of these problems.

Technical Preview Technical Preview for Consumer Technical Preview for Enterprise Can I take from this that the "for Consumer" edition is what used to be called Pro? If so, that's pretty weird, since the "base" edition is obviously "for consumers" too. The base edition is arguably the edition for (most) consumers. It's too bad that MS is still going to have two consumer editions. Continued termsrv.dll nonsense, etc.
