Never mind, I would like to see what really will be come out of MS Kitchen! As it's stated in that Blog, those update will be over the Windows Store only. That would mean that users of an bought and registered Windows 8, with MS Account could have access to that download! Not a problem for me! But what will be with those users who didn't have that? Could it be possible that there will be some more limitations? What will be with KMS activated machines? I guess there will more questions come up before those "free" update will be available!
That are questions that are on the spot, but i bought 2 version one for laptop one for desktop when the prices was 14e, so i'm happy with this news. But what i will do with kms activations that i have installed to my friends we will see But i don't have a doubts about cody new release for windows 8.1, i think that activation technique will remain same.
maybe some smart person can find a way to bypass Store (and MS account) requirement and made the package Standalone installation file ?
I've a total of 18 pro licenses and also 2 others for corporate. Those early announcements were changed quite often, therefore it really would be better to wait what happen in reality! And don't think that MS wouldn't have learned from the published infos from forum's like MDL. The question they will change something in the activation process will be answered latest with RTM and maybe even not forehand! With launch of Windows 8 and the changes of the activation process, wasn't really much infos available upfront, that was coming with public avaibility! Fine if it works for everybody, but let wait and see!
I guess that Microsoft will also sell Windows 8.1 as a standalone OS, for those who don't have Windows 8 yet, so you could just use official ISOs and upgrade your current installation that way.
By setting SlideshowLayout = 1 in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Lock Screen] you will get only 1 image at a time, there are even more layout options using that key, I haven't tried them all, but if I understand win2k8man's post correctly, there are 6 different options...
I'm not sure with that! MS has tighten the activation process already quite a bit with Windows 8. And they'll have learned about the other "leaks" via the forums! I wouldn't wonder if they will even tighten the process more!
Reller stopped short of saying that we will see Windows 8.2 and beyond but wanted to hit home that Windows 8.1 is a large update for the platform and that it will bring many enhancements to the end user.
I checked the value of the key can vary between 0 and 6, it represents the number of pictures show together, 1 wiil only show one, 2 will show a collage of 2 pictures etc. If you set it to 0 the numer of pictures will vary. There is a time interval of 15 seconds between each image.
SlideshowTransitionTimerInterval Decimal (1000ms = 1sec) =================== SlideshowShuffle = Random pictures
