A lot of language packs use fallback languages for missing strings. They don't patch everything, just most things. zh-CN as far as I'm aware is not a fallback language of any language pack. It's usually en-US as a fallback language.
Yep this is i guess correct. What i did was. Install VMWare Create a new VMAchine Mount Windows 8 ENT x64 En-EU ISO Install Windows 8 (Selecting English United Kingdom as language) Once Windows 8 was installed i mounted my 8.1 RTM ISO (Didnt do anything else literally soon as desktop shown i did next step) Installed 8.1 from within Windows 8 on the VM from Desktop not boot (The setup was all Chinese) I did an upgrade not clean install. Windows 8.1 was installed Desktop shown up my keyboard was set to English United states no longer english united kingdom. Most apps are still English not Chinese but system is all Chinese still. Whatever i do with language settings does nothing I can change keyboard layout and that's about it. I think with it is falling back to English United States confirms what you said about it falling back to that. I think its to do with the "writing system" it will always use the Chinese style.
If it´s allowed...good idea . Although i refuse to install Frankenbuilds (that i not did on my own). Still like to run sfc /scannow without reverting anything (best would be 'activation' is gone ).
Installing this in a VM only atm. Will wait for appropriate drivers and SiB+ and AeroGlass to work here, before i start to consider upgrading my production system .
Haha! I think at the time when Windows 10 gets leaked you will install tools to make it look like Windows 8.1 BTW, isn't Chinese a terrible looking language on a screen? Don't want to be offensive but seriously it's ugly. Can you imagine that most humans on this planet are speaking and writing this language? Let's hope that no aliens will find this out!
Drivers should not be an issue but AeroGlass? Dono man might be pushing it a bit (as in waiting a long time)
Nope...like Win 7 . Like Win 8 very much, but that Start Screen idea is pretty much braindead for me. It does not mean refusing new ideas if they are good and even more important productive. So far noone could show me any benefit using it. The most annoying part is, how fast it gets messed with dozens of unnessessary tiles after installing my default programs. Only because MS decides that the Start Menu is obsolete, that doesn´t mean they asked the right audience .
Can someone please post a link to a clear easy guide to making the leaked windows 8.1 RTM files from the zip shared earlier into a bootable ISO, thanks!
When a lp.cab appears, the dism commands will work. It has to be done on Win 8.1 Preview or later Leak with adk 8.1 Beta Deployment Tools installed. Tested with Win 8 Enterprise converted from en-US to de-DE via dism offline (mounted WIM).
Open the Preview or 9471 ISO with UltraISO (or similiar), delete the content, then paste the downloaded files and rebuild .
