I second Pauls comment, very nice to see slave77 back. It still makes me wonder ( i visit many forum) and must be a million of so [people that simple do not read, since they are mind readers, they thing every body else who can help them also can read minds. wonder where they dl there Windows, what version is it, do they have all the upgrades or is it a clean install.) I did read whast WZor posted, I had not 1 little problem with any of the MSUs and for the most part enjoy "Win 8.1.1 x64 Enterprise and Win 8.1.1 Pro.
Virus programs give you a false sense of security. They don't block most newer malicious software. If you really want to avoid getting any sort of virus, you have to run a sandboxing program. Most other legit software can have adware, but they typically have checkboxes. You have to be careful, but for the most part the unwanted software is avoidable. A/V programs don't block those adware programs either. They're not technically viruses. Whether or not they're malware is debatable.
OK, I got the update installed, but when I I go to Windows Update, it comes up with 11 updates - some for Security of Windows, other for Net Framework 3.5. All of these updates are dated February or February 11, which is today. Should I install them? I remember reading that if you installed the big update properly then Windows Update would not find ANY new updates... true? no? None of the new updates are the updates that were required to be installed before the big Escrow update, so I should be good to install them...
I always install everything M$ offers except BING Desktop, what fun is it unless you do... Too many people seems scared of all the KB Pirate Killers.
heh. A lot of the so called 'virus discussion', off topic, like always, but always seems to be necessary. Anyway, we call it, LINUX, virus "free" and free and open. But that is another discussion. Tried this (this update) virtually, and no issues. Seems like when you go real is when the mess comes

Did you notice that no matter how many times you turn off Bing Desktop, it keeps reappearing in that list of updates available to install. Microsoft really really really wants everybody to install it.
I really like the fact that the adress is instantly moderated by forum software if you try to post a link to this CLOWNS-SITE....
From my experience, once you hide the newest version, it shows you the next oldest, and then the next oldest, but eventually it goes away. Same for Silverlight.
