I just clicked on the MSUs - instructions I was referring to were not the rtf set that came with d/l, but these from WZor site Manual: Installing the Windows 8.1 Update 2014 MSU to a your local Windows 8.1 RTM or Windows Server 2012 R2 RTM. 1. Install Windows 8.1 RTM or Windows Server 2012 R2 RTM any version! 2. Install one or more Windows 8.1 RTM languages. 3. This includes: • Rollup A (KB2883200) • Rollup B (KB2884846) • November Rollup (KB2887595) • December Rollup (KB2903939) • January Rollup (KB2911106) Restart your PC! 4. Actually i just double-clicked both msu's prior imaging my system and it worked flawlessly. Still not excited.
Everybody will have their own opinion, that's fine. For me it was the fun of getting and installing the update, the end results is no big deal and won't change anybody's life by much.
Obviously Microsoft will have to make this much easier for the average user because the average user is not going to jump through all of these hoops to get the update installed. It will have to be made available through Windows Update in a one step update.
what happens if i install it?destroy something?i have ro. language. x64 ,when it finally appears installed over ?
I think this update (win 8.1 update 1) must release as new OS (8.2) like windows 8.1. So people will don't have problem with the installation.
The average user won't have to, they will get it via Windows Update automatically, most won't even realize it happened.
same, installed both on latest untouched leak in VM, Windows8.1-KB2919442-x64 then Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64 by double clicking. I almost pee'd it was so cool heheh
so we have to install window 8.1 with all the updates before applying 2919442 and 2919355 or just install a fresh copy of window 8.1 and just apply the 2919442 and 2919355?
After installing it on a machine with win8.1 rtm with all updates installed (GA,RollUp, etc) , windows update ask to install old updates like GA , RollUp WTF! Now trying to unistall it seems its not ready for public testing , will report back
I just installed it on the latest leak with all the update and i'm having a startup problem after it restart any idea what could be causing it?
I would guess the latest LEAK and the latest LEAKED update, although I see no issues in VM, starts reboots shuts down fine here. Did you reboot between each install of the MSU's?
