Make a bios backup with this utility http://www.sendspace.com/file/jizhna

    Unpack and run "FPT_BAK3264.exe" :
    - capture (make a screenshot) the utility's output;
    - look for *.bin files in C:\_BACK folder;
    - pack the screenshot & *.bin file(s) and upload them

I have got a Lenovo IdeaPad G580 with free DOS.

I think there is no slic 2.1 for Windows 7 available, how can I flash Slic 2.1 in this?

p.s I downloaded the Windows 7 DVD from this website for all manufacturers, is there also a same DVD for Windows 8?

Read this; there is nothing like OEM:SLP activation in Windows 8.

    Hello,

is it possible to flash this firmware from DOS (ie. using tools from standalone BIOS upgrade CD)? I don't have native Windows on my T420 (4180-AJ3)...

    Thanks!

Strangely, still error 201 same as before. It's a bare USB drive made bootable with the HP utility found in another topic here.

EDIT: I managed to extract a (hopefully) good backup of my BIOS using the Universal Backup Tool.
    Here are the other stats:

    Manufacturer: Lenovo
    Model: IdeaPad Z585
    BIOS Version: 60CN93WW 10/23/2012
    BIOS Type: Phoenix BIOS
    BIOS Link: here
Backup of BIOS plus RW Everything output ZIP: here

    Thanks again for your help.

Disable "Secure boot" in bios (if present) and try this mod:

    Lenovo ideapad Z585_60CN93WW-backup__WL-l0newulf.rar
    http://www.sendspace.com/file/gvd60j

Flash in pure DOS env.: make a DOS bootable USB stick, unpack the mod to the stick,
boot to DOS and run update1.bat (in case of an "Error" try update2.bat)
    Please post results.

This mod for your PC only !!

Both batch files end up giving the same error: "Not find the Phoenix SMI communication area."

EDIT: I do have a copy of SCT Flash if that might work

2ND EDIT: Used a copy of WinPhlash 1.5.63.0 to flash, and it worked. Even though SCT Flash that came with the untouched BIOS rom gave me an error. Will report back after I install the mPCI card.

    Hello,

I would be grateful for the following BIOS with whitelist removal (WWAN):

    -Manufacturer : Lenovo
    -Model : T420 (4180-AJ3)
    -Bios Version : 1.46 (latest)
-Bios Type : UEFI BIOS (Phoenix)
    -Bios Link : http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS018784

I would need the mod as a bootable CD as I don't have Windows running natively on this Thinkpad.

    Thanks in advance!
